I have had it awarded to me too, so I understand how nice it feels. I wonder if it's only EDF who are running the scheme. It is reassuring and mine runs until July, so I'm a very happy bunny on that score 😊

Wishing you the very best 😊

Hi there

Are you in receipt of any benefits?

The best thing to do is call your energy provider and ask them if you are eligible for the Warm Home Discount.

Not all energy providers give this discount and you have to ring to apply for it.

Wishing you wellness and peace

Hi Bkaul...you apply online - they might say applications are closed this year (up to March) but you can reapply in April. Hope you are successful....I believe you have to be in receipt of one benefit and not earning over £16,500 - not sure of exact amount.

Hi Foggy! Its the first time I have received something so feels wonderful to get this discount especially as I've been in a flare up and had to be at home for couple of weeks and had heating on all the time....its a huge relief to know that I have this rebate towards my energy bill...dreading that one!

Hope you have a good day!

Hi Ouch_123

I have pasted you some details and a link below about the warm home discount, and the winter fuel payment and cold weather payments scheme:

Cold Weather Payments:

gov.uk/cold-weather-payment

Winter Fuel Payments:

gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment

Warm Home Discount: This is slightly different:

Eligibility

You qualify for the discount if on 12 July 2015 all of the following apply:

your electricity supplier was part of the scheme

your name (or your partner’s) was on the bill

you were getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well)

How do you get this money please

Hello there

Not all energy providers give a Warm Home Discount. If they do, the majority of them require you to be in receipt of certain benefits to apply for the scheme.

Call your energy provider and enquire. They will be able to tell you whether they run the scheme and if you are eligible to apply.

Wishing you wellness and peace

As you willnot be eligable...doesnt matter what rate of pip..if you only get one still apply hope this helps....you can also get free bus passes so i heard the other day...im go to enquire i let you know ....but im sure you can if on pip...

Hello dawniee2121

If you look at the back of your PIP Award letter it will tell you how to apply for a buss pass.

I believe that not all counties will give a buss pass as you have to apply to your Council for it.

I would definitely find out if you can get one. Some of the benefits you get when you're awarded are time limited.

Wishing you wellness and peace

Dawnie..I do not receive PIP but receive Working Tax DSA and earn less than £16,500 - it would seem there is different criteria with the Energy Companies so encourage everyone to submit an online request. Have heard that EDF close applications for the current year ahead of March 2016 but you can reapply come April 2016.

Re Bus Pass..have not heard anything and just assumed you had to be 60?

dawniee2121 profile image

Not all energy providers have the same requirements for eligibility.

Call your energy provider and ask them if they run a Warm Home Discount and ask if you are eligible. They will be able to tell you.

All you have to lose is a phone call.

Wishing you all wellness and peace

Just to add do go and have a look at the link Ken has given as it gives a small paragraph on others ways you might be eligible and also a list of all the suppliers who are involved in the scheme. Good luck to everyone who applies do hope you get it as every bit helps and we know that we fibromites must be kept warm.x

Just to remind those in receipt of warm home discount.

You MUST reapply every year it is not done automatically!

Suppliers should send you a reminder but not all do so make sure it's on your calendars for next year.March is normally cut off point.
