Can I ask if you are in the UK ? If not you won't have heard of it as it is one of the benefits available to people here. It used to be known as DLA (Disability Living Allowance) but with all the changes in the system it is now known PIP (Personal Independence Payment) and it is awarded and non means tested for people with chronic conditions.

I hope that clarifies the matter for you :-)

Whoops, the PIP assessment is part of the application for such payment and the benefits are all in such a muddle that people who were on DLA indefinitely are now being reassessed for the new PIP, really it is just the government massaging figures (that's my own humble opinion) and putting many people through undue stress in the process. :o

Hi

I hope you have a better experience than me. It has took me 10 months to go through the PIP process! I had a new diagnosis and rung DLA with changes to my circumstances, because of this they treated me like a normal re-assessment (someone moving from DLA to PIP). This means that I am not getting any back pay, so have been without support for my new diagnosis for 10 months. I had my home assessment in March and got the report in August...... I have complained and got my MP involved, it's currently being investigated. If your in the same situation and you want back pay the best thing to do to is stop DLA and start a brand new claim for PIP. I just hope others aren't enduring the same treatment. xxx

Hi

I hope you get a quick response. In total my claim, decision and reconsideration took over 12 months. It was a nightmare! They really put me through the mill! I had my assessment in September they gave me a decision in January and i requested a reconsideration. I was awarded high rate for both components in July more than 12 months after the initial application. Due to the time it took them to make the reconsideration decision i had less than 12 months left on my existing award. So i have to go through the whole process again before next June. The whole thing seemed to suck all the energy out of me and i am dreading doing it again.

But on the plus side some people have had quick responses so chin up you could be one of them. Fingers crossed good luck.

Hi Fairytales, don't get your hopes up about how quickly you will get a payment. The results from the assessment are sent back to a DWP decision maker, so this could be a few weeks. I have been getting reports of the entire thing taking up to 6 months to sort from the date you rang to make your claim. Anyway, I hope it all goes well for you.

For those of you interested in Charlottes amazing story here is the link 9gag.com/gag/a0qdp4E?ref=pn

This drug offers hope to many.

Sorry the link wont come up and if you type in Chalottes web you get a childrens book. But i have persevered and found that by typing in her name`Charlotte Figi` you get a choice of sites.

it is well worth reading about. Cannabis with out the high, that works.

My mandertory reassessment that i asked for has now been passed on to the tribunal. I have to phone them later and sort out what to do with new evidence. If i ever get an appointment for the specialist.

Sue fed up but not giving up. This is for all of us who suffer from cognative problems.

I had my assessment in May after waiting 6 months. In September I received a letter saying I did not qualify. Its been a nightmare the lady from capita has made up lots of stuff about me and not included vital information. I have requested a reconsideration and been on a 5 day call day for 3 weeks now. The whole process iis so stressful. If the right information had been put down and I failed I would have accepted that but not when lies have been told. Really hope yours is a better experience.x

atos medical officer told lies did not ask questions just filled them forms in. lies and more lies. ASK for a copy of the medical atos form I did. i went to an advise beuro with all my medical forms, there are things dla dont tell you what justifies your eligibility to dla. cab know. they wrote a letter on my behalf and so lucky for me on the day i was in a full flare up i won the case. so people i tell persevere you know your not lying don't give up. when i went for esa medical the doctor went mad i did not even get interviewed. he went mad said you should never have sent for this woman get her a wheel chair and a taxi home. they sent for me because they said they have not got my medical records. the doctor said they are lying i have got them right here. so CORRUPTION IN DWP fight and keep fighting its hard stressful brings more physical pain mentally as well, but keep going to expose this CORRUPTION
