I have heard conflicting info about this scheme. This might be of benefit to other folk on here though so I have put the link here.

This is definitely worth finding out about as gives you £130 towards your electricity bill if you qualify. The rules are confusing tho- i was working for a project advertising this last year and would say that if you have a disability and/or are on other benefits, it would be as well to contact your electricity provider to see if you qualify as the criteria varies from supplier to supplier as do the cut off dates!?! Fingers crossed some of us will get it!

You are eligible if you fulfil the criteria - you need to be on income-based ESA, income support or incapacity benefit, PLUS you need to be getting DLA, or a child in the household does. It's worth £135 off your heating charges, so definitely worth applying for if you are eligible. Hope that helps.

It depends which energy supplier you're with - they don't all have the same criteria. E-on do NOT recognise DLA which is why we left them.

Hi, I am with eon and I have qualified for this scheme for the last few years. I was on flash then moved to pip. I think it all depends on who you talk to these days.

What about if I'm working part time, but receive high rate DLA mobility?

I think that depends on your income and your supplier. There's a list of the suppliers on board with this scheme. Find yours and go to their site. That's what I did. Just waiting for a form to arrive in the post.

Hi, hope everyone is having a good day. I applied for this for the first time last year, in the winter, and I'm with British Gas. The money was put on to my electricity account at the end of march/beginning of April. I have asthma, heart disease as well as fibro, and I had no trouble in qualifying for this. So I would say definitely give it a go. Have a lovely weekend xxx

I used to qualify for this but moved to EDF and had to have 1 item in 2 sections relevant to me but I didn't. Moved to British gas, and as well as those type of quLifications there was a qualifying clause if you had illness, disability & had an income if less than £16,190 per annum you qualified, I called on Saturday with all my paperwork in hand, they do not include DLA, PIP, Housing Benefit or Council Tax benefit as income, as I only get ESA support group contribution based my income was something like £6000. She said I qualified and would be credited £135 because I only have electric in my flat, if you also have gas with them you get £270. The money will be in my account between Jan & Match so perfect for winter bills and meant I could finally put my storage heaters on tonight instead of living in bedroom under duvet & blankets & only getting up for the loo & food lol. This clause used to be the same in NPower too, but they don't advertise very much a search for illness disabilities usually brings up all details. Also on register so if there is going to be an electric outage for any period of time they let you know and also priority area if there is a power cut

Please note - it depends which energy supplier you're with - they don't all have the same criteria. E-on do NOT recognise DLA which is why we left them. British Gas as ksmiles says above wouldn't guarantee to until you switched to them even after a complicated assessment. We are with N-power. They did eventually award the £130 but boy what a palaver it's been with them.

Hi Shuskin

you have to be on certain benefits DLA is one and possibly pension credit. Best place to check is the government site gov.co .uk or dwp I have got this before but have not as yet had info on it and it is notified to the recipients by the DWP but It has not yet been confirmed as being paid this year as far as I am aware. If you have received the benefit before it is automatically paid in future years .

I received this by cheque the first year but as some people were not using this money in the way it was meant to be used it is now paid to the company who supply your, in my case, electricity who did not deal with the payment the way they should have dividing the amounts in my account in way I did not see any benefit as I pay by DD
