I couldn't agree more, it's one of those thing which have crossed the pond and needs to be turned around and sent straight back. It puts even more pressure on people to go out buying, ok, they may pick up a bargain, but with that goes all the tension and potential for violence, if people don't get what they want.
Pushing and shoving at the start of the sales on Boxing Day is bad enough, yet another silly excuse for the retailers to make money, which they still most certainly do, despite the "prices slashed" which is ludicrous 😳
Send it back with many blessings for its return from whence it came!!
I can't for the life of me understand why shops have to open on Boxing day at all! My poor daughter will have to work until midnight on Christmas eve and is then back in again on Boxing Day at, I thinks is, 12 noon. All because people want to part with a few pounds.....its crazy. I understand that it is not a holiday for some, before I get clobbered
This will be the first Christmas my hubby and I will not have family on Boxing day, the first Christmas my daughter has had to work on Boxing day and all because the area manager love the sound of Ker-ching!
My thoughts exactly, I'm not in the least bit interested. Wouldn't matter if I was as I don't have any money to spend. But there is no way on earth I'm going to get caught up in the rugby scrum in the shops. Even if I was perfectly fit and not housebound it's not my cup of tea. Fighting over a telly or whatever, ridiculous behaviour!
Fraid so, for me it needs to go right back where it came from thank you very much.
There are always fights here in the US on that day- always in the news. Used to be just window breaking from all the people pressing in and fist fights. Now - I think in the past few years, we have had shootings/ stabbings over TVs - on the national news.
I usually avoid those stores anyway- last year, we went to a newish TJ Maxx and my daughter got some clothing. No crowds, no wild deals but we don't get to shop together much- and as she is a student, not much ready money so Mom comes in handy
It is understandable if you are a front line worker, like health, police, army and fire Brigade but a shop. I try to avoid them on holidays at all costs as there seems to be people in buying as if they were never to open again, eugh
It must be strange no having your Hubby every holiday
I want to be in the Police when I am older. I am only 16... I love and hate Black Friday. Love because of the deals, Hate because I have anxiety so I could easily have a panic attack. Plans for Christmas, anyone? I am going to my mum's :):):)
thats so nice that you have already got plans... i know its a nightmare, i just stay at home and i cant wait to work on christmas....well the job i have in police you dont need to work on xmas day
I love Christmas with my family, it will seem strange on Boxing Day as I have never had one with just the two of us, there has always been family about and I always end up cooking for everyone....poor them
I am not a fan of these fad shopping days as they encourage the people who can least afford to buy things to buy products that they don't actually need. I totally agree with you that it should return hence to America and never to return!
I do prefer to shop online as and when I do need things, as I do like to treat myself when I have an idea for something that I want to create like my aquariums and gardens.
As a nurse with no children I used to work every Christmas. Until someone told me that really that was unfair just because I didn't have kids didn't mean I didn't have family to be with. Though to be fair in more recent years there was a lot more young ones who preferred going out new year which meant it did balance better. Some years I've worked it all, which is not nice.
I don't do the sales though. With the exception of a small group of products, it's stuff they couldn't sell. I wonder how many have got true bargains.
