So I've just had a community h...

So I've just had a community health assessment and they're saying things like recommend relocation? Not enough length for a ramp. Next I go to my meeting with my boss about coming back to work and she says I can't allow you back without an occupational health assessment it's not just you its other people in the building?! And if they allow you back we have to look at if you can still do your job.

I feel so lost and overwhelmed right now the way my boss was makes me think they're gonna say I can't do my job at all. I'm just struggling here to see the positives and I feel so fed up. Sorry just need to offload.

Just want to say do not be pressured into giving up your job, let things run their course, they, as employers do have a duty to make adjustments in the workplace you cannot be dismissed for being ill. All best wishes. Lou xx

Chin up girl don't get too down. Lou is right they have a duty of care towards all their employees so they have to make sure that you could safely exit the building in an emergency and that the station wher you work will not make your health issues worse. If they ignored this they would be in trouble if anything happened to you or another staff member because they hadn't done a proper risk assessment.

Hopefully with the home assessment they might be able to push for you to get a place that would be easier for you so that could be an absolute positive.

Let us know how you get on.x

Ok ill try stay positive. It's just a bit overwhelming at the moment. The building is built for those with disabilities so that is not an issue. I just feel like every time I get ill I lose everything then have to scrape together a life for myself all over again. This time I don't think I have the energy to do it all again.

I am so genuinely sorry to read that and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck. As the others have said, it may help to join your company union and seek their advice and guidance in this situation. Please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

There's also a law about adapting buildings (not just for employees). I wonder if they've tried hard enough. I wish you the energy to persist. Make them go through "due process" and don't make it easy. It might just pay off. It's helped me, but I have no illusions there will come a time . . .

Companies often try to make life so difficult that you resign in frustration. DON'T DO THIS whatever the provocation or you will not get the full protection of the law.

I think the fact that the company said that they had others in the building to consider speaks volumes. They should focus on what you can do as opposed to what you cannot. Being disabled is not contagious. I believe that there is a scheme called Access to Work that may be able to offer you some advice.

Good luck!
