Anything that helps with fatigue/tiredness?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything that helps with being tired/fatigued.

When I have days off I sleep in and rest between activities but in the week I work full time and I am just exhausted. I have a very active job so can't pace or rest. I also have anxiety and I'm wondering how much my mental health and perspective are affecting how I feel and making me feel negative about my job.

Has anyone found anything that helps them? Like supplements, teas, specific exercises, something to do with mental health etc.?

Thank you in advance.

Hi ExploringPanda, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so fatigued. Unfortunately, this a common symptom of fibro. I can only advise the supplements that have helped me. They are ferrous fumarate, Vit C & D. The biggest difference to my fatigue levels occurred when I started B12 injections. If not already receiving these, you would need to ask your GP to test your levels first. Despite this, I still suffer from fatigue following working all week. Sleeping for 10 hours also helps, I only get about 5 during week nights.Hope this helps, E x

Other than resting, I've not found anything that helps the fatigue. I got home from work at 4pm today and by 4.30 I had PJ's on and in bed I was so tired.

Unfortunately I had to retire early due to my fatigue. I don’t sleep well at all and have to stay active during the day to stay awake. I love crafts and find that if I am very involved in something I don’t notice the fatigue. I don’t have any answers but would also be interested in anything that can make me feel more awake.

Hi , you could try a good quality Turmeric, but check with your Doctor or Pharmacist first if you’re also taking pharmaceutical medication.

I have FM and thyroid so also get very tired, I have been using Olive Leaf Capsules for about 6 yrs after watching a program on TV about things that can help fatigue and other things, it's a long time ago and my memory is poor but it was a health prog. I buy online and they are not too expensive. I feel that they give me that little boost to keep me going a bit more! Good luck, hope this helps💜

Hi there

I’m really sorry you’re so fatigued, I understand how hard it makes things.

Probably the only thing you can do to make a real difference is change how you work. I know this isn’t easy but look at all angles, Unfortunately I’m with Oscarbelle, as I’m in the process of being medically because of chronic fatigue. I’ve tried to fight it for five years, since a brain op made it debilitating, but I’ve had to admit that I just can’t do it anymore. .

Try to make adjustments if you can.

Good luck. We understand. ❤️

Hi ExploringPanda, I have just had an Occupational Health assessment and I asked the nurse the same question. She said in her experience the only way to manage the fatigue and brain fog is through pacing and regular rest. She helpfully made some recommendations for me/my boss. I would definitely recommend asking for an assessment if you haven't had one recently.

Good luck with it.

Hi ExploringPanda,

Yes back in 96 my doctor who was in Ogden UT prescribed Dexedrine before the generic drug came out, it gave me 65% of my energy back. It was nice to have that back but later on we moved and the new doctor didn’t like the Dexedrine so he prescribed Provigil but it didn’t work as well. I am back on the Dexedrine but it is the generic version which doesn’t work as well. I don’t have the energy to work full time but am working very part time. I really haven’t found any thing that has worked for the long haul. It has just been a ……🤔? Work and trial basis or how ever that saying goes? I hope someone has some better advice. I’m sorry just dealing with some health issues right now. 🤗💜

I saw the generic version of Dexedrine doesn't work as well for you as the original. I've had my doctor write a note on my prescription to fill only with the version I need. If your pharmacy can get it, that should help.

Thank you but I think my doctors are thinking of taking me off that too. I’m not sure what it is but they suddenly decided that I was getting “older and my body is changing” so they don’t think I need anything for brake through pain. 😞So far Cymbalta isn't working.

Hello, when you work full time it must be exhausting for you, you re doing the right thing by resting , have you spoke to your GP about your mental health? Can your hours be cut at all ? , maybe ask GP about what vitamins you can take too help x

I found that breathing oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber for an hour at a time helped immensely with fatigue and brain fog but only after about 10-20 sessions, still go once every week after 10 years, and supplements that help with energy for me are coenzyme Q10, NMN, rhodiola, vit c, acetyl-l- carnitine , vit D, K2 and there are plenty more(I take them all every day) , exercise is really important, and is very difficult to start with, but persevere for about 6 months and it really does help, removing chemicals from your. life will help, as your body was not designed to deal with our chemicalised society. This will give your body less work to do leaving it more energy for you. It’s quite a lot of work but worth it if you are interested in how to do it, reply and I will pass on my notes
