Hi everyone,

I get the usual symptoms like stiffness and fatigue, but I also get many other symptoms that can be put down to fibro. I have just found out that having a weak bladder can be connected to fibro. and my eyesight and hearing worsening is a symptom of fibro. The `fibro fog` explains many things, like memory loss and confusion. Also driving is getting harder especially when it is dark and now I read this is connected to fibro. fog.

This is such a horrible condition. I have suffered with depression for years and that is bad enough but now all these physical symptoms are making life difficult.

I was told last week that my cholesterol is high. Does anybody know if that is connected to fibro.

Apparently some people have a craving for carbs. especially chocolate as a symptom of fibro. This is definately my problem. Im overweight (according to the nurse) but having high cholesterol is the last straw.

I don't know what all is fibro related sorry. I know I have multiple issues so with me it's just one great big boiling pot with a little of this and that thrown in together waiting for it to boil over. Problem is even the ones that research fibro don't know exactly what causes it or what symptoms might occur. I try to keep up to date on research being done but that is hit or miss. Good luck and maybe someone else might know.

Hi, not sure about high cholesterol, but I believe that the sugar cravings (I especially crave chocolate like you!) May result from reactive hypoglycaemia, where you experience a sudden fall in blood sugar levels less than 3-4 hours after a meal. The nurse can carry out a blood test to measure HbA1c levels which can determine reactive hypoglycaemia. This is helped by eating foods which have a low Glycaemic index e.g. oats which release sugars slowly into the bloodstream.

I also get many of the symptoms you describe.... irritable bowel and bladder, fibrofog, tiredness and eye problems... the list goes on.........sorry I don't have any suggestions, only pacing yourself and resting when you get too tired.

Hi golfer 15,

I have Fibro, Hypothyroidism, which often go together, and a few other things not related to Fibro. I also have high Cholesterol, which I had before Fibro, and as far as I am aware, it is not related to Fibro.

A high level of Cholesterol is due to eating too much of the wrong type of fatty acids. i.e. A lot of full fat dairy, fried food, hydrogenated fats, often found in ready meals, biscuits, cakes, and all processed meats. Too high a level of Cholesterol can cause Heart Attacks, Strokes, so it's important to get your levels down by eating plenty of fruit & veg, and low fat dairy, gentle walking, or other type of excercise that suits you, and cutting out anything that has a high fat level, which is usually all the things that we like to eat. Your Dr. May want to put you on a pill called a Statin which lowers your Cholestrol along with dietary measures.

It is a misery having Fibro, without getting other problems added on. Some of the Medication that people take to help with pain sometimes cause cravings for particular types of food, and also some of them cause weight gain which doesn't help if you have high Cholesterol.

I hope you get sorted out, and don't get anymore nasty surprises, and come on here often as there is always someone around to chat with or have a laugh with if you feel like it.

Take care.

GP. 😊😊

I'm definitely addicted to sugar! If it's a fibro symptom that could explain why I can eat 5 chocolate bars and think nothing of it? Always put it down to being tired and maybe comfort to distract me from the pain?x

I get similar symptoms to you. I am forever getting tests for diabetes but up to not have always been negative for this . I get dry eyes but that to me is a part of my Sjögren's syndrome....I also have gained a lot of weight a do don't care what anyone says but after 3 kids and always being skinny i don't think that my eating habits caused me to gain weight as my diet has never changed ....

I get very sensitive to noise and light ... I also get sore heads a lot more than I used to. my brain fog is ridiculous also and I have no concentration level at all. and my attention is zero....

I am about to be tested for celiac as I have been having a lot of problems and my niece was tested recently and she was told that it is usually hereditary for people with MS/ SS/ and fibro to have this illness .... I also have arthritis in my hands restless leg syndrome....

a lot of your symptoms I can acknowledge for me too.... my illnesses that which are known of just now are SS , fibro, arthritis, depression ,diverticulosis and under active thyroid....

sorry for the rambling hit hope all I have said makes sense .... take care and big hugs x

I am so genuinely sorry to read of your suffering and struggling and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to these issues. I have never come across cholesterol levels being related to Fibro personally? I am also a sugar addict just like Keeleybee.

I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi David,

As I read your posting I'm munching on choc buttons! Interesting what you say as I noticed my hearing is getting worse. I even went to the nurse to get them syringed and she said they are clear! Didn't even consider connection with fibro! I don't drive much now but also when I did drive at night found my perception not as sharp and it out me on edge! I have highish cholesterol 6.4 but don't know if that's connected also, but does run in my family.

Hope you find a way to battle through, it's rubbish isn't it.

Hugs

Jo x

Hi ive just had hearing test as find my right ear not as good but they said have loss on both why i can't hear people if others are talking as sounds a mess.

going to try me with aids to see if help.

but anything muscle wise is in fibro mischief box/menu!

Im having bad breathing problems plus my eyesight is crap seems to worsen sometimes more.

Don't go with statins as only makes you worse go look up serraptese made from silkworm so natural will bring cholesterol and bp down have friends on it and works great 2 aday for first week taken first thing with water then don't eat for hour after that one a day but says on package find it on Ebay some good sellers on there.

Another good thing to take is blackseed oil great for everything.

Do you get the sudden urge/can't wait hells coming with waterworks?

Not what you're looking for?
