I have been in the ESA support group for over three years and I was of the opinion that I would be contacted after 3 years but I have heard nothing, do you think its because I am 63 and due to retire in 2 years.
Do you think its the age thing that they are just carrying it on or do they realise that from mine and my doctors last reports that there is no way that I will be well enough to work again

Hi tortoise
There is I'm told an enormous backlog of medicals in some areas and the onus is on getting these cleared. A lot of ESA claimants are finding their awards have just been extended as they're concentrating on new claims rather than re-assessments. You may still receive a call to medical but that seems the most likely explaination.
Hope that helps
hi their no don't worry about what ESA have said they told me the same and i have heard anything in six years and i'm only 48 years old but i'm disabled so i would be very surprised if the got in touch with you take care bigalan
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? As the other respondents have said there is a big backlog at this time, and the onus is on clearing them. Please remember that the onus is also on them to call you in and not the other way around. If they chose to extend your award then this is their prerogative at any time.
If you can get your award to continue until you are 65 you can then apply for Attendance Allowance. I have pasted you the GOV.UK cache on this benefit below:
I would leave well alone as others have said there is a big backlog for new claims so keep on taking the money. Hope it keeps you ticking over to retirement. X
My sons had his new esa forms he's been in the support group for just over a year we were told it was for 3yrs so it just goes to show they can do what they want at any time xxx
