One family member has Borderline Personality Disorder. .... behavioural and emotional roller coaster. Very selfish with it too. Reads up on Fibromyalgia and now thinks he's the expert. One minute sympathising with my symptoms the next shouting and getting angry while telling me to suck it up when I explain 'sensory overload'......
He'll deny any wrongdoing when I have a flare because of the stress 'you'll just have to lesrn how to live with it' !!
Now this is all pretty string stuff coming from a person with a mental health condition half the Psychiatrists are not sure exists.
I'm a generous person so I believe he does have BPD but really wish he lived elsewhere so I can actually live with my Fibromyalgia in a lower stress environment. Thus morning I've had to go downstairs on my bottom! Even my faithful old pooch looked bemused (can labradors do that).
So.... decided gonna sell my house....buy a bungalow with not enough bedrooms. ... hahaha what a cunning (but clever) plan!
Its already got the makings of a good day.....

Hi I'm so sorry that you have to put up with that. I have to live with fibromyalga which is bad enough I also have BDP General anxiety disorder along with depression to contend with so I understand stand both illness es . I hope you work thing out and try to understand each other I no it will be hard. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense the brain fog makes it hard to wright thing down . take care x
I doubt any great understanding will be reached. ...from my part I honestly try try and try. .. but my relative lacks ability to empathise (might be a touch of aspergers there too..... but we dont want any more 'labels' chucked at him).
Sorry you have to put up with that. But does this person live with you? If he does then I would personally move out or if it's your home then move him out. (I know that sounds harsh but I have a brother who sounds just like that and I tell him to shut the hell up... but then again I don't see him very often - he lives 100 miles away and unless my parents are in the vicinity we avoid each other.)
I know I come across harsh - I've just responded to someone else's post about similar family members who poo-poo fibro and my advice is the same, ignore... in your case if they are really living that close I would put some distance between you. In my experience, I've found that I've given up pussy-footing around people who don't pussy-foot around me. Hence why my brother and I (he has bi-polar and other mental problems) aren't really allowed to be in the same room together without someone ready to intervene.
Take care, don't let people put you down or make you feel worse than you already do - this fibro is awful enough. x
hi deelittle . ...you hit it right on the head when you said you wanted to "live with my Fibromyalgia in a lower stress environment". Stress plays havoc with my Fibro and I need to know I can relax in my own home environment without fear of anyone else stirring things up and creating a stressful atmosphere.
I really hope you can achieve this for yourself for the sake of your health.
I am so genuinely sorry to read this and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck. Please remember that it is your house and anyone who lives under your roof should live by your rules and standards.
I tell all the 'All in the mind' doubters that I would willingly swap bodies with them for a say, so they could find out for themselves if its in the mind or not! Haven't had any takers yrt, but I could really do with the relief!............
