I have been wondering how long 'flares' generally last for. I have been off work almost 4 months and still have painful tender points predominantly in my buttocks as well as my knees despite being on 2700mg of gabapentin.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in april this year after my health deteriorated and have been building up on gabapentin, although it looks like i may end up coming off it as i haven't made any significant improvements since being on it.
Unfortunately I'm still having problems with sitting upright for very long.
I've had ongoing pain in my right shoulder/arm and neck for 4 years and am concerned that i may be left like this in my lower limbs too.
Any advice would be really appreciated. X

I've been in gaberpentin they gave me terrible leg cramps I'm on pregabalin now and they help I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago but I think I've had fibro for a long time so not sure how long flares last sorry I can't be any help xx
In the 35 odd years of struggling , ( don't) like suffering.. I Think the worst flare I had lasted for 7months but on average 3 to 6 weeks , so the long one was after a very bad virus,,, hope this helps
I am so genuinely sorry to read that and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and a speedy recovery. Unfortunately there is not really any way of knowing how long a flare can last? Please take care of yourself.
Morning littlemy, my buttox kills to! It's horrible can't get comfy can you. The only med that has helped me with especially the butt and arm pain is amitriptyline. As far as flares goes I think depends on stress ect..... I can always feel when it's coming, I try to de stress and rest oh and meditate does wonders for the mind! All about not worrying about past and future. I to am worried about lower body as mine was always mainly arms, back, neck and butt and now it's in my legs ad feet.
Thanks to you all for replying. It's comforting to know that there is a community of people willing to share advice and experiences. I went back to see my doctor today and am coming off the gabapentin and going onto bacolofen instead during the day. Here's hoping it helps.
