How on earth do you manage? Do you get any outside help at all, eg. Social Services? I think you should begin with your GP, and have an assessment of your needs. If you are struggling more now with FM, an assessment for meds and proper help with your family, asap. Tulip xx

I certainly take my hat of to you my dear. As Tulip has mentioned, go and see your GP.

You are a inspiration and a truly amazing person:) I do hope that you can find some closure.

Take care and enormous hugs from me :)

Hi, at the moment im taking co-dyramol and amitriptyline for pain and to help me sleep. I've had Fibromyalgia since 2001 and only recently learned to manage the pain a bit better. I was referred to Charing Cross Hosp where they done tests. Maybe you can get yr GP to refer you to someone who can check yr pressure points etc and find the best help for you. Not only with meds but support groups and physio. Also like Tulip said Social Service would be a great help. Once they assess your needs hopefully they can sort out a carer to help you with your daily tasks. You are amazing, to be able to take care of others while going through your own emotional ride can't be easy. I wish i had your strength. I pray you get the assistance you need.

Take care. Big gentle hugs xx

Thank you everyone. I did sound an old misery didn't I ? We do get some help with the 2 youngest son deafblind CP &epilepsy daughter has a rare syndrome. Eldest 3 are Down Syndrome and are brilliant! (All are adopted )

Am having a bad time at present as well as the pain I sometimes feel ill. Have had many tests but to no avail!! I will go back to GP but he always gets an "evil" glint in his eye and threatens "tests" Once again thank you all it is cathartic to write.

Take care all X

I didn't see an 'old misery', far from it. I think you have tremendous strength of spirit which has brought you this far! It sounds like, complex as it may be, there is much love in your family, which is the most important thing of all. If your circumstances bring an evil glint into your GP's eye, and a threat of tests, :) perhaps you have reached a cathartic point in your life, time to get some help for yourself.

Huge respect. Keep us posted? Best wishes, Tulip :) xx

Maybe you need those/more tests the Dr. threatens! Sounds like you have been doing for others ~ God bless you for that! ~ and now it's a time that YOU need some attention! Let him do his tests and get you the help you need so that you can continue to be Mom to those wonderful kiddos!

How selfless of you to give all these kids a home/family! Sending gentle and soft hugs, and hoping for your renewed health ... bk

Ginger helps with inflammation, valerian helps me sleep, some folk find avoiding certain foods can help with their fibro and also IBS.

Wow! Hats off to you! I thought taking care of little ones was hard! I feel like I should take advice from you! Only thing I could possibly suggest is talk to your GP and maybe family services. Maybe they could send someone out to help you. You are truly amazing!

What an incredible and inspirational person you are! I was wondering if you were getting all of the benefits that you are entitled to? As this could help pay for a bit of help? I have pasted you a link for Attendance Allowance which may interest you?

gov.uk/attendance-allowance

I am presuming that your children are getting their disability benefits? But just in case I have pasted a link to PIP

It may be worth discussing a benefit review with your local social services to see what else is available? I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Thanks everyone for your encouraging replies. Have been too busy today to wallow, oddly enough although pain is very debilitating it is the 'flu like symptoms that grind me down and make me so grumpy.

All my lovely children get DLA/PIP and other related benefits so we are ?quite lucky. The 2 little ones get 5 nights/month respite in a NHS ?care home so we can spend time with the older 3 but I am so tired! A nurse comes in once a week to get the littlies ready for bed.

I also have a cleaner X2/week as we have a massive house ----even older than me!!

Thanks for reading I just want the old me back
