Hi Emmalou,
Welcome to the forum!
The answer to your question isn't straight forward! To get a diagnosis you probably need to see a rheumatologist, your GP needs to refer you. The specialist will check you over and if test your trigger points. More info on NHS website: nhs.uk/Conditions/Fibromyal...
There is no standard treatment for it but here is an overview:
- Gentle exercise such as yoga/pilates/walking is helpful.
- Antidepressants are used as painkillers - amitriptyline, nortriptyline are the normal ones to try first it seems.
- Pregabalin & gabapentin are used. Think they are anti-epileptic (random I know).
- Painkillers such a tramadol and codeine are used.
If you suffer from IBS then diet can help - google the FODMAP diet.
Good luck!xx

I always think that what medication works for one person may not work for another as we are all unique individuals, but there are plenty of treatments to try. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of lcuk.
All my hopes and dreams for you
