Hi all after years of wondering why I was always sore and having a ridiculously long list of aches pains and ailments. Not to mention wondering why my memory was so poor.
Last year finally my Dr suggested that I might have fibromyalgia. I've been prescribed amytriptaline and tramadol so, will give them a bash.

Welcome to the forum and I sincerely hope that you find it useful, informative and loads of fun! I have pasted you a link below to our mother site, FibroAction which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:
I am so sorry to read that you also have this wretched illness, and I sincerely hope that you are receiving a good combination of medications to help ally the pain. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you

I would try giving the tramodol a miss. As they are highly addictive and after a while they don't do anything for you.
Just wondering if your doctor referred you to any other consultants or if you've had any specific investigative tests done?
I don't want to throw a spanner in the works but I think it would be really useful to see how the medication goes but to also push for a referral to a Rheumatologist to actually confirm or at least investigate things further before 'settling' for a 'probably Fibromyalgia' diagnosis.
After my Fibro diagnosis, my sister who was also having similar aches and pains went to her doctor and was given the same meds as you and I initially - Tramadol and Amitriptyline. However, some of her symptoms sounded slightly different to mine so I asked her to persist in requesting a referral to a Rheumy and it turns out she has Rheumatoid Arthiritis - Not Fibro!
Wishing you all the very best going forward - only you truly know exactly what you're going through so do everything you can to get an accurate diagnosis.
Was so caught up with my sister's outcome that I completely ignored the fact that you say you've actually been seen and diagnosed by a Rheumatologist.
Well done and all the very best going foward. I have found the Tramadol helpful - I only take it when I absolutely have to and the flare is really bad. All other times, I take Naproxen (which is like a strong ibroprofen).
The Amitriptyline is great cos it really helps with sleep and as my doctor says - sleep is medicine!
I'm hoping the amytriptaline helps me sleep too, that's good to hear 😃x
hi i would try given the tramadol a miss. they dont do anything for me. except for the side effects and the tramadol withdrawal. which i would not wish on anyone. take care
Hi Maco, thanks for your reply. I didn't like the Amytriptaline at all, so don't take that, I was given pregabalin which seems ok so far. I have only taken about 12 of the tramadol in total since I was prescribed them. I only take them when I'm extremely sore. thanks for the heads up though.
