Probably a cyst I know I had one on my breastbone and you can imagine what I thought but mysteriously as it came after a few weeks it went but like you I was sensible enough to go and have it checked at the docs. You have done the right things though in making a gP's appointment as it is always best to have lumps and bumps looked at even if it is only for reassurance that it is nothing as I think the docs would rather see 100 patients where the lump is benign rather than miss the one in a thousand where it is something else.

Let us know how you get on just to put our minds at rest that you are okay.x

the swelling goes from the middle of my neck to level with my left ear. so i hope its not a cyst

Ouch no that does not seem like a disc have you pulled your neck as it could be an inflamed muscle. When is your appointment?x

earliest i could get is the 11th March. it does not feel like a pulled muscle as i can move my neck freely. i do keep getting headaches but have put thyat down to doing too much

Mystified so don't know what more to suggest. When you rang up did you just ask for an appt. or did you tell them that you had a lump at the back of your neck? Would it be possible to see a nurse at the practice sooner?x

i asked for an appt but my doc is on annual leave

Isn't it always the way. At our surgery if you want to see a "named doctor" you need to decide to be sick at least 2 weeks before hand. They will often say there are no appts and to ring back on "such and such day" as they will be opening the book and then you ring up and all the appts are gone, grhhhh!! I hate seeing another doctor as you spend all the time explaining about your condition so by the time he gets to look at you the consult time has gone and you are rushed through

Hope you get some good treatment when you eventually get to see the doctor. If you are worried before that is there a "Walk In Surgery" anywhere near you?.

Had an appointment with the opticians yesterday and she asked me if i normally carry my head more to the right. I didn't even know i was doing this. So now I'm worried even more as the swelling is on the left hand side.

My doctor seems to be either booked up for months on a day off or on holiday. They do not do a walk in clinic, so i have basically just got to wait. so writing a list of things to ask.

Pleased your seeing your dr. about this.

Is it generalized swelling, lump hard or soft? Lots of muscles and glands that area.

The other possible is a goitre.

To be honest best not to try and guess it, Dr needs to see it.

Lets us know how you go xx

It is hard to the touch and it can be seen. by that i mean if you looked at my neck you would notice it. I thought a goiter was only at the front part of you neck?

Could be one of many different things? I genuinely hope that your GP appointment goes really well for you.

Good luck

Have you been tested for any thyroid problems? It is to my understanding that the symptoms of fibromyalgia /chronic fatigue syndrome are very similar to an underactive thyroid. Glad your getting this checked. Good luck :)

I was tested for thyroid problems when all of this started off. I keep having blood tests as well. feel like the hospital has had too much of my blood.lol

Oh dear . I can relate to having more than enough blood taken . Sounds awful and frustrating for you I bet! I'm really not too sure what else to suggest:( Hope they get to the cause real soon! Appointment after Appointment can get exhausting, but overall hopefully worth it:)
