I was just wondering if neck pain is part of FB? I have constant pain in my neck and shoulders and it goes up into my head well the base of my head. It feels like I need one of those neck pillows you can get for traveling. The painkillers dont really touch the pain. its beginning to get me down. Thank you xx

I think neck/shoulder and head pain are one of the most common symptoms of fibro, thats how I started and its gradually spread to evcerywhere else. Hope you feel a bit better soon. xx
hi yes ioften have exactly what you have in fact most of the time as well as my legs/arms hips/feet/hands lol i do hope you can find some kind of relief love to you diddle x
Memory foam pillows help, sleep like a soldier in bedbut i could not live without it really as fits snug. But if ypu been docs from symptoms they should be suggesting tests ie MRI like i had. So just go back as the more symptoms could be anything else and so rite meds needed to help whatever causing it. I have discs on my spinal cord which are compressing on nerves which affects allllsorts.. We really just have to persist with trial on drugs etc to see what wrks, failing that injections dependant how bad. I am waiting injections in neck and possibly other parts.. Think the trick is to keep annoyoying doctors. Once you walk out room another patient walks in. Xxx all the best with it and hope you get some comfort xx
I too suffer constant neck, shoulder and back pain, never really thought about it just accepted that it was part of the fibro. I think I will have to mention it to the GP as my pain killers do not touch the pain. I usually end up with severe headaches due to the pain. I currently take co-codamol, Pregabalin and Buprenorphine. My gp has just increased the pregabalin 2 weeks ago, but that still has not helped!
Hi, just been to doc too and she's increased dosage on pregabalin too also like you have co codemol , benuprenorphine, paracetamol and nothing is removing pain 😱😱
The Tender Points used for diagnosing Fibro should only hurt when pressed and will not cause other symptoms. There is nothing special about these points - they are just points on the body where everyone tends to be more sensitive so where it was decided were good places to check for the hypersensitivity to pain (hyperalgesia) that is characteristic of Fibro.
Localised predictable pain isn't actually due to the central Fibro. Neck and shoulder pain is a very common problem with myofascial pain, which often goes alongside Fibro and is a common cause of localised predictable pain in people with Fibro.
It needs different treatment though (muscle relaxants, injections, stretches and specialist massage) so it's very important to identify this (though many GPs do not have the training needed to even identify this issue).
I know how you feel, I get the exact pain in neck and shoulders. Sorry I'm not much help, nor can I give you any answers. My Dr won't give me anything stronger than paracetamol 500mg. For the pain, like taking smarties. I've tried all the rubs that you buy over the counter, & they don't work either.
I've even been to the pain clinic, but now I can't even get in touch with them, as they haven't got a telephone exchange anymore. I've got to walk with a crutch now as the pain in my lower back, around my groin area, and down both legs and knees, is unbearable. I'm sorry I've gone off on one, I should have just given you a reply and left it at that.....sorry
