hi not sure , doctor gave ma small does of water tablets as a trial they helped a bit but he gave me a 2nd ten day trial but as I have a sedentary job they made no difference to the swelling . I have controlled high BP..

Has any blood test been done, for your kidney function?, and urine test?, it does sound like water retention.

I have an annual blood test because medication can affect kidney function .there is no enzyme in blood to suggest organ failure. I haven’t had a urine test though

It’s a strange one, isn’t it, possibly meds may be, I saw you said your legs gored, so it might be worth checking with your doctor, about compression tights?. I wish you luck.

Hi, what's the colouring like on your lower legs/ankles? Is your veins quite distinctive like kinda bluey? Could be your circulation needs a little help?

A pillow under the bottom of your mattress can be enough of a tilt to help with swelling. Also raising your legs whenever you can higher than your hips if possible and keeping a slight bend at the knee.

Don't sit with crossed legs (I do it all the time, really bad habit) and try to move with a little walk every half hour or so if your job involves a lot of sitting in one place.

And then there's the rather fetching support stockings! They're a nightmare to get on, look bl**dy awful BUT they do actually help.

I wear mine when I know I've got a full on working day, hide them under my jeans and hope to god I don't have an accident and end up in A&E 😂

Hi thanks for your reply my skin is red when I get up but swelling does go down a little overnight. Now the skin is skin coloured now looks like I have a slight tan compared to higher up my legs. I raise my legs when I can but fibro pain gets bad in my lower back, hips and buttocks when I do . I can’t win . I am just looking at compression socks now actually. Thanks for taking your time to reply.

Lol Cheetiecat. They aren't that bad. I wore black ones for years. Now I can't get them on meh. 🙄😒😣

I wouldn't wear the skin tone ones hehehehehe.

I get fluid in my ankles but moving around helps

Good luck sweetie hugs 🤗🤗🤗

The itching I can relate to, I'm moisturising these areas esp / skin to help with this on dr advice.

I have a heavy duty emollient moisturiser from GP but the itching seems continuous

If you are taking amlodipine for your BP that can cause swollen ankles for some people.

Good too see people have replied with helpful advice, medications can cause itching and sometimes swelling of the ankles, if in doubt for a piece of mind check in again with your doctor , take care. X

Hi I suffer with swollen feet and ankles in the summer when it's hot. However I think it was last year, left foot/ankle didn't return to it's normal size when the right one did (it did reduce a bit). I saw my GP about it, and lots of tests etc carried out, and in the end he was baffled by it because the tests all came back normal. So now I have odd feet and ankles! Don't know if it is Fibro related though. I itch all over at times.

Luckily it's not a huge amount of difference, so I can manage with my shoes. 😊
