I've recently had my award notice from benefits and they have awarded me £37 a week I'm devastated I lost my job through illness to be told this makes me wonder why I worked in the first place the amount doesn't cover what I put on gas and electricity , does anyone know if this is right ? Feeling bit annoyed

Is your ESA contribution based or income based? If contribution based it will go on the amount of national insurance stamps paid in a certain year. If income based the DWP will take account of any other income you (and partner if you have one) are getting.

Maybe you ought to question this with DWP.

I am so sorry to read this and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I was wondering if you have entered a claim for PIP? As this is a tax free benefit that can be claimed for your disability regardless of whether you work or not? It is not taken into account when calculating other benefits such as ESA and Income Support.

It may help to read on the GOV.UK site to see if you are entitled to any other benefits such as tax credits etc? I want to wish you all the bets of luck and I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.
