I went to the rhumy yesterday in a vague hope he might have something positive to say, but no. Why would he? Why would anyone? I don't know where else to turn!!

I hurt so much I cry with it.

I understand how you feel. I don't think they quite get it, tough enough just to travel to the hospital to see the 'specialist', but they cant at the moment do anything to help. My last apptment was in December. He agreed to discharge, and my gp will contact his secretary if anything changes. It takes too long to just recover from the journey. For me it's not worth it.

You need time to recover, perhaps ask to speak to your gp about extra pain relief short term to get the pain back under control. I feel for you. Hope you get some rest tonight. Tulip xx

What role should a rheumatologist play in our treatment (if they are being helpful) x

Sorry you didn't get the answers you need, I found CBT helped me accept this condition, it's hard to come to terms with being ill. Best wishes to you, I hope you feel at least a little better soon. Lou xx

Hi missymoo123

I am so sorry to read that you did not get the resolution that you so desired from your Rheumatology appointment. It may help to see your GP again and explain the situation and tell your GP exactly what you want in the form of treatment? Explain to them if you want stronger pain medication, explain to them if you feel that Physiotherapy or CBT may help your condition. You have nothing to lose by doing this?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I know just how you feel. After none if the drugs worked, my Rhumy said she couldn't do anymore. The best she could do was suggest a nutritionist and washed her hand from me. No pep talk, no hang in there, just sorry I have run out of drugs to try on you. I'm quite sure she has no idea the pain we go through.,,,,,Patient number 142, your next. That what I felt like. Just a number.

When I saw two rheumatologists about my pain they just poked me in all the relevant places and told me I have Fibro. That was it, no advice, no suggested treatment and my GP says she doesn't know much about Fibro. My painkillers do help but don't totally get rid of the pain, so I can sympathise with you. Let's hope 2015 will bring more understanding of what we all go through.

Love and gentle hugs

missymoo123 I feel for you - so sorry for your pain. I wish I had something grand and wonderful to say to help. My only suggestion is to echo what tulips123 said - that you might find a rheumatologist or family-type doctor that is serious about helping you with pain relief. After 30 years of RA and Fibro I've run the gambit with the standard RA meds and I now need a strong pain reliever round the clock (Tramadol). Both my rheumatologist and family doctor are focused on helping me with pain relief and I appreciate them very much. As iluvcatsuk said, pain meds don't get rid of the pain, but they help me significantly. I now only rarely cry with pain. Again, so sorry for the level of pain you are in. I hope you can find some relief!
