Butrans 5mcg/day

I wonder if anybody can help! I was on Codeine (maximum of 720mg/day) but I had a bad reaction to Pregabalin (600mg/day) so my GP has started me on 5mcg/day of Burtans. The only other pain medication I take is 4gms Paracetamol every day.

Does anybody have any comments on Butrans?

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

Good morning. I have been taking it for the last couple of months as I was on Co-Codamal 30/500mg and DHC Continus 60 mg slow release plus Pregablin. My new doctor wasn;t keen on the combination of Co-Codamal and DHC Continus and the Pain Clinic suggested I went on taking Pregablin and Butrans and add Ibuprophen and Paracetamol as being a better combination. I find the patches much more convenient because with all the other medications I take as I have GORD, HBP and high chlorestrol I felt I was like a tube of Smarties shaking around as I walked. I am less constipated which is a good thing and once it is on I can forget about it for a week. I thought it was making more of a difference with the pain but that has come back often with a vengence and I realised it was the warm weather when I first stated taking it which was helping and now the weather is damp and colder I am back where I started. My comment is that it doesn't take the pain away just damps it down most days to a more or less tolerable level as long as I don't try to do too much. Of course the dose can be increased. A lady I go with to hydrotherapy has had quite an angry rash around the edges of where the plaster was so she wasn't so keen but she had put it on her front where the skin is more delicate and the latest patches she is now putting on the top fo her arms.x

Hello

Well it might take a little whilst to get your dose correct

As a rule you will be started on a low dose and then uped

Until you feel the benifit

It's a strong medication, not been on it my self, another name

For it is called subutex this comes in a tablet form given to

Drug addicts as I believe that it cuts off the pain receptors

In the brain so for them it works well.

Yours will be a patch as a rule stuck on your arm, it's a form of morphine. I believe not a lot of side effects go to google and

Have a look.

My friend who was on this for a time, and for her it worked

Well for a while but it's like most morphine based drugs your

Body soon becomes used to the medication and the dose goes

Up.

I wish you luck for some it works well I'm sure you will get

Some relief from it.

I hope this has helped
