So had my what seems weekly doctor visit this morning demanding a change in meds as they are not even touching the pain. The doctor said I was on all the right medication, one med from each of the 3 cattergories and there was nothing else they could do. Not even adding morphine in would help me apparently. I demanded something to be changed as I have been on that med combo for weeks. she eventually gave in and has swapped co-codomal for tramadol but didn't think it would make any difference.
so now i take tramadol, naproxen, paracetamol and gabapentin. plus venlafaxine. I hope they start to work together!!
sorry just needed to rant and wondered if any body else had been told by their doctor that they have ran out of pain tablets to try you with?

I had loads of pain until I was put on Tramadol. It made the right combo for me, added to the others I was on. Hopefully you will find the same. I must say though, it was the extended release version that I do best on.
Yes! Unfortunately for my GP I am allergic to most things, bless him he doesn't know what yo do with me, at the moment I am on a cobination in small dozes but still have to take other medication to combat the side affects, better than nothing though.
Hi there im on tramadol and have been much better since. I never understood why I took the tramadol thought it was for the bone pain but I did hear somewhere that fibro peeps don't always produce their own analgesics and that is exactly what tramadol is, so maybe this will make sense. The paracetomal is pretty useless on its own for our kind of pain but a kind nurse once explained that the paracetomal acts as a base line for the tramadol they interact with each other really well. And the gabapentin will hopefully interact and block the messages out brain sends for our pain. I write this cause at the beginning I just took them and all that stuff but when explained to me it just suddenly all seemed I wasn't in the dark anymore and understood what my meds really were doing for me. hope it helps you too. xx
Well I take paracetamol to start with followed by my antidepressants velofaxine 375mg so the highest dose, thyroxine of 100mg, something for my stomach called Lansacrople, and Telfast 180 for allergies daily. Then I take OxyNorm which is Morphine because I had a bad reaction from Tramadol. I am quite useless I'm sleepy, confused but not in too much pain. In between these I am allowed a diazepam 5mg once a day which really helps me relax and my muscles. I hate this disorder or whatever you want to call it.
Good luck and if Tramadol doesn't help demand OxyNorm I take 5mg and 10mg if very very bad then I will take 15mg together.
Its possibly that because you are taking a combination of meds that it may take longer for any difference to be noticed. Some meds can take a while to notice the difference.
I'm not allowed to take morphine on any kind of regular basis, so cant advise on that. But i was taking tramadol for many years but it just stopped working.
I have found the only pain meds to make a difference are ones that knock you out, most only seem to take the edge off.
Hi I am on no regular pain meds ,I went to a pain clinic ,I would suggest you ask if it would be possible to be sent on one ,it explains fully what your body is doing and why ,it explains how the meds do or don't work and why ,it suggests alternatives you will meet others with similar conditions and why the body has rewired itself , I feel know more in control , of my life and my body , I understand that if I push to hard it's me who suffers so I do one physical job a day , I try for one mental , and I potter a bit if I push it I get the boom and bust so then it's fatgue and pain ,I have MCTD (lupus) sjorgrens fibro and chronic fatigue , please try not to stress I know it's easier said than done but I have learned that it's not good it makes me worse be kind to yourself ,and gentle take care
