Welcome to the site I think you will find it friendly and informative. I am sorry that you have been diagnosed with this complex illness at your age. I would personally click onto the mother site at FibroAction and learn all you can about the various symptoms and medication and therapies that are on offer as it might help you ask the right questions when you go to your appointment at the Pain Clinic. I would write any questions down as if Fibro fog descends you might miss out on some valuable information I would approach any recommended treatment with a completely open mind as what suits one doesn't suit another and sometimes just a different medication within the same group can give more relief. Sometimes we can find a great deal of relief from more alternative help such as acupuncture, I myself are waiting for an appointment for hydrotherapy as I will give anything a try in order to reduce the pain and stiffness I get. I have just come back from the physio and asked him to do little drawings of the new exercises he wants me to do so I fully understand what is being asked o me. They look a bit like Lowry stick men but it will give me a reminder of what I have to do, he says he has never been asked to do that before but I think sometimes you understand something when you are with the medical person and then when you go away you have often forgotten what they have actually old you to do. I also make notes in my diary about when I should make appointments etc and with whom so I don't wait around not doing something and missing out on a treatment.

Good luck with everything and if you have any specific questions or need some moral support just ask away as I am sure someone will be out there to help you.x

Welcome.

Now you have a diagnosis at least you know what ur dealing with. It took over a year for me to get diagnosed, it was lupus, flu, palindromic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis to name a few before finally being told I ha fibro

I was a fit young mum, ran half marathons, cycled, swimming, sociable and full of energy! Then bang, after a tough time with my youngest child my body gave up. Random pain locations, fatigue, headaches, low mood, irritable bowel.

It's now two years on and I'm a different person. It's been a long hard slog but I can finally feel positive about my future.

Here's a few things that helped me.

Chronic pain team.

Supportive G.P who recognises fibro as a real medical condition.

Hydrotherapy pool.

Physio, to improve core strength.

Pace yourself every day! Spread the load over the week and don't overdo things on good days, as u will pay for it!

Healthy diet, avoiding sugar helps me.

Adapt work shifts and work load. I reduced my hours after struggling to cope.

I reluctantly used antidepressants for a spell and they helped a lot till I got out of the tunnel. I've been on many meds but it's very difficult to get the right combination that's right for you

Well I've rambled on enough! Once I start I can't stop.

I wish you good luck. It is tough but sites like this are fantastic for tips and great for getting things of your chest to people who understand.

Hi kellums88

I sincerely hope that you are feeling well today? Welcome to the forum, and I genuinely hope that you find it useful, informative and loads of fun! I have pasted you a link below to our mother site, FibroAction and it contains loads of useful Fibro information:

fibroaction.org

If there is one piece of information I would give to anyone with Fibro it is to pace yourself as overdoing things tends to lead to pain and fatigue. I want to wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I've had this for 14 yrs and never been offered pain management, each time I've gone to docs for help they give me antidepressants, so I refuse them I don't want to take Prozac, so not been on any medication for a long time now and really suffering. At moment it's this over powering feeling of exhaustion just need to sleep, getting so fed up with it, docs are useless. Just want to close my eyes and sleep and I'm only 50.
