As from my heading I now have fibromyalgia. I had a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis for 12 years, had a second opinion recently to find that my symptoms are fibromyalgia instead. This was somewhat a shock but have to cope. Was a member of HealthUnlocked for R A so am glad to find, I hope, similar for fibromyalgia. Since diagnosis my blood pressure has gone up,previously very low. I take 5mg Amlodipine which worked well so I stopped taking them, but yesterday and today my blood pressure has raised again. I would.love some input with others please. Thank you

Hi - & welcome to this friendly forum.

May I ask, if Amlodipine was working well, why you stopped taking it? Wouldn't it be better to get your GP's advice before stopping a med that was helping? Sorry, not trying to be negative in the least, rather concerned.

Hello I have bother diagnosed with fibro a few years ago and ra last year. It is no fun but I've found weightloss has helped I'm also on metatroxate 6 x2.5 tabs once weekly and 1 5mg steroid daily and folic acid. It was the best year I had in years. I also git 2 steroid injects into my lower butt hip left side in winter as that was my worse point. I hope this helps I don't know if it was the weightloss or meds that helped the most but I did find a big improvement. I hope you find your solution and remember these things can Co exist so take change of diagnosis lightly theybare quite similar in nature anyway just be kind to yourself little and often with tasks rather then pushing through helps keep flare ups at bay 🤗

I too am concerned you stopped taking Amlodipine, you need to stay on it unless your doctor tells you to stop, which would only be if your blood pressure started to be too low, or if you had bad side effects in which case they would try another medication. Please start taking them again, high blood pressure can cause all sorts of issues without you being aware of it

I was diagnosed with FM 2019 but in 2022 another Ruemotologists has said there is no sign of FM and that I have low grade RF which is at 24 and should be 1-12 Now I don’t know who to believe ???

Hello and welcome. I have been on blood pressure treatment for many years and you should not stop the treatment unless told so by your GP. If your bp has come down it is because the amlodipine is working. Having stopped it I would expect it to go up again which increases the risk of strokes. Please restart it.
