Hello everyone, Have any of you found any cause for Restless Legs?
Josanna: Hello everyone, Have any of... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Josanna
Hi,
Lots of Fibro suffers have it and I also read somewhere that there is a connection to Parkinson's but whether that is true I could not say.

Hello josana, no I dont know what causes it. I am just glad that Ropinerole works for me.
Sue xx
I take 4 Ropinerole night and still they carries on, about two months ago my arms start going off on there own, that's why I am up this time off night trying to get them to stop here hoping I will get some sleep tonight.
My doctor as no answer for it ,he said its just linked to the fibro, but is it????
That is my question. I know many people who don't have Fibro and yet have restless legs. How could it be related. They just don't know. Years ago before Fibro was discovered, my morning alarm went off and the news came on. There were some scientists talking about the hole in the ozone. They said that because of that many people sensitive to the radiation would hve bone, muscle pain. Sure enough it happened. I never heard this again. But I believe it.
Hi JOSANA
I am so sorry to read that you have RLS, but it can be caused by all manner of illnesses. My wife has MS and she sufferers with this also! I would discuss this with your GP to try and ascertain the cause?
All my hopes and dreams for you

I have something else as well and its also a symptom of that and dependant on your age you can get during the menopause as well. So it's been a bit of a nightmare. Mine eases when I take myself to bed. X
Everything is related. One thing causes another. I get pains that are so extreme and go to the doctor and they find nothing so it is all blamed on fibro. I just moved to the colorado mountains which has been my dream forever. It turned into hell. I have been in my room 90% of the time. Oxygen 24/7 and nausea 24/7. I am moving back to Albuquerque. Pray things change back to my original pain. Nobody can figure out anything. Why I got so sick in a higher elevation. We have an elevation research center here and the doctor called me and told me to go to a lower elevation for a couple of weeks. The Oxygen was fine, BP ok but nausea continued. So I'm moving away from my dream (hell). but so beautiful up here. Didn't get to do anything.
Hi Josana, I don't get restless legs, but I do suffer from cramp quite often. My Yoga teacher suggested an extremely unlikely remedy that has worked for her, it is supposed to help if you have restless legs too! It can't hurt to try it, all you have to do is put some corks (yes corks!) under your mattress. I've used 6 under a double mattress. Obviously, they aren't so easy to find now lots of wine bottles have screw caps. Maybe a shop that sells things for people who make their own wine will stock them?
It seems to be working for me, two weeks and no cramp!
Good luck! MariLiz
I cannot believe this, but willing to try anything. My mattress is at least 12" thick. You think the cork power will go through that? Have you done any research on the power of corks? I am very interested in this, sounds amazing. I am looking for corks! Thank you. Blessings to you.
Hi again Josana, I was also very doubtful about it helping, it sounds crazy. My Yoga teacher told us how she'd tried it herself, and had been "cramp free" for some time. She then went away to visit friends, and on the first night was in agony with cramp! She obviously hadn't taken any corks with her, and was then desperate to find some. As soon as she put some under the mattress at her friend's house she was fine! Neither she nor I can explain it, but anything that simple has to be worth trying. MarLiz
Ps my mattress is also around 12 inches thick.
I forgot to tell you that I get a lot of cramps also. What really helps is Peter's Calm Magnesium and Calcium. Excellent
Many thanks for that Josana, although as I am in England I'm not certain I can buy that particular brand here. I am due to get some more vitamins next time I get to the shops. Lots of people have been recommending Vitamin D as a help for fibromyalgia symptoms. I shall certainly look out for calcium and magnesium too! Good luck with the corks, I hope they help.

Hi - I was on Amytriptoline for years due to a serious back injury. For years I was back & forth to Drs who used to stare at me like this
Hi again - looks like the other half of my message was censored. To cut a story short - Amytriptoline (or something in it) was the cause of my RL. Hope you find yours soon
Thank you so much. What are you taking? I had 5 neuroma surgeries where they cut the nerve endings on the feet. I think this was the cause of mine. It is real bad. Even if I take Mirapex I still have to run in place at least an hour because the Mirapex starts the RL's,
But if I don't take Mirapex, I'm up all night.
Sorry I can't help there because Im not taking anything - I'm very sure that the RL wasn't started by the neuroma tho' as there's a very large gap. I now have dactylitis (sausage toes) - they injected the neuroma and it eventually disappeared but I think that they were 15 yrs late with the diagnosis & there's obviously nerve damage (I can't enclose my right foot as the pains excruciating - I'm the one on Dartmoor carrying her right welly)- Really interested tho' about the surgery - can you explain more & did it work. Thx ann
Yes it did work, but I hear they don't do it anymore. I had five of them between 1984 - 1986. Why is it you don't think them cutting the nerve would not be the cause of the RLs or ILM?
Sorry - obviously didn't make it clear. I'm sure mine wasn't caused by procedures for my neuroma, as I'd had the RL symptoms after I started taking Amy for a back injury years before, but my RL S stopped when I stopped the Amytripoline - Yours very well could be. If you didn't have it before your ops & you did after them it definitely looks like cutting through your nerves caused your RLS. Sorry I wasn't clear. Ann
Yes, I think that is what happened. They banned that surgery. I could not walk at all with the neuromas. Steroids didn't work any longer so I had no choice. If I knew this would happen, I would have used a wheel chair because with my restless legs I have to run in place until I can't anymore. That is every night.
Yes I have suffered from restless legs for years. I then started getting jerks in my limbs which gradually increased. The doctor put me on Baclofen and it has been great.
Thank you for that I am ready to try anything. Love and Blessings.
Are you on any meds for underactive thyroid, because I had horrible cramps aches and pains in my legs and all other joints until I started on Levo.
