Hi there, i took gabapentin for 3 months for chronic migraines, it left me totally confused and feeling drugged up to the eyeballs, i have since xhanged to amitriptyline and got a mouth guard to wear at night from dentist, this has reduced my migraines significantly. I would think its more likely down to computerwork, i ditched mine and use an ipad only for short bursts of time. I had to leave my job as doctors secretary due to migraines and retrained as a security guard at airport. All the best,

Hello, I took Gabapentin for about a year and reached the maximum dose of 600mg throughout the day. I initially had the side effects you mentioned (blurred vision etc) but this all eased off after asking my doctor to reduce the amount I was taking at once. So instead of 200mg three times a day, it was broken down further to 100mg tablets six times a day. You could ask your GP to reduce the dose each time slightly, really helped me with side effects.

Gabapentin eventually stopped working for me and had no relief from it at all. I'm now on the maximum dose of pregablin.

All the best, C x

Hi

To be on the safe side why don't u ask your GP to go on to pregablin , I found this much better and it's meant to be a cleaner drug altogether, however it is more expensive . But I have no side edfectsnon these . ☺️ X

Hi I've been on pregablin for a year now and I've lost weight . It was amytriptiline that I gained a stone an half on . But I suppose everyone's body reacts differently x

Hey I'm on gabapentin fairly recent. Sounds like the dosage could be the problem. I took them wrong to start with and had severe side effects. Once the doctor wrote down a gradual dosage plan for me. I started on 100mg tablets gradually worked up to 600mg took about 6 weeks to up to get to the higher dose. Takes your body a week to get used to each dosage. I increased it each time after one week.

1x100mg at night

(For a week)

3x 100mg

(2nd week)

1 x 300mg at night

Then 3 x 300mg. .. if you get what I mean

If you feel you don't want to continue persevering with them just ask your doctor to change medication. :)

Hi I'm on them as well 300mg 3 times a day and I also get blurring vision but not the bad headaches that you are having you poor soul. Why not go back to your doctor and ask him/her to maybe lower the dose for you and also try if you can to use your computer less if it's not for work and take breaks for the computer screen as well. Good Luck :-)

Thanks all for reply. I have dropped to one tablet at night and will gradually increase. I was only on small dose anyway 3 tabs 3 times a day 100 . Funnily enough I have had 2 weeks holiday from work no migraines or blurred vision, so I'm starting to think meds and computer work don't mix. Proof will be on return to work tomorrow......fingers crossed xx
