Hello, sorry if this has been asked many times already I'm just wondering if anyone has took just one 300mg of Gaba and felt sick of been sick? I suffer emetophobia and my GP gave me these to take while I wait to see rheumatology.

Thank you.

Hi Hun, I've never been sick with it although it did make me nauseous x

I've had gaba of 50mg as liquid

Side effects can calm down after a while

Just a tip, always take meds with food, even if it is only a couple of dry biscuits.

I find ginger nuts the best, but digestives work well too.

I felt nauseous with gaba but I think that may have been the dizzy and lightheaded feelings I had as side effects making me like that, a bit like travel sickness or a bit drunk.

The pain relief was great but the side effects too much for me so I gave it up.

Contact your GP if it continues or becomes worse.

Xx

Both Gabapentin and Pregabalin have quite a few side effects but I have found that they do lessen after several weeks so it is worth persisting also ask your MD about splitting doses across the day as you build up towards a therapeutic dose (where applicable) if side effects are troublesome. Note Pregabalin has fewer side effects overall.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to pop into my doctors tomorrow to see if I can either have anti sickness meds just incase or ask for a lower dosage x

Hi, do you take the 300 at the same time or 100 3 times a day. When I started to take it I took 100 3 time's a day, I'm now up to 300 3 times a day, I hope I'm not confusing you

Rosie 😊 xx

Says one to be taken three times a day but each pill is 300mg I think. The box says Gabapentin M&A Pharmachem 300mg so I assume it's 300mg per pill. x

Wow is that what your GP started you of on, if so I would think that it's too high, I would go back and discuss it, how long have you been taking it? I hope that you feel better soon

Gentle hugs Rosie xx 😊

I haven't took them yet and only got them yesterday. He knows my phobia but only mentioned that they make you sleepy which is great as I have trouble sleeping, but I googled what other people go through and it triggered this phobia. x

I can't believe the the GP, I definitely think that it's too much as I said I started at 100 and worked my way up, I wouldn't change it now, I hope you're able to get an early appointment. I hope more of the members who are on it come along and tell us the amount they started on

Rosie 😊 xx

My doctor surgery is pretty good at appointment times, I'll pop in tomorrow and just ask the reception if a doctor can write up a new prescription but for 100mg instead of the 300mg. Did 100mg make you sleepy? also with or without the sickness feeling? x

It definitely helped me to sleep better, but it was so long ago I can't remember if it made me feel nauseated but I wasn't actually sick 🤒

It's better to be prepared, try to take them at the same time during the day, I try to take mine when I get up and roughly 4/5 hours in between the next 2 I try to take the last one a couple of hours before I go to bed, good luck Gentle hugs

Rosie 😊 xx

As Rosie says, divided doses are better :-). I take pregabalin 3 times daily @25mg each time and even at this very low dose it is effective for pain relief. It is a "kinder" drug than Gabapentin and you may have the right to ask for Pregabalin (Lyrica) under the NICE treatment guidelines depending on your exact condition (it is expensive though so you might have to persist....)

Hi no I'm fine with 300mg

was started on 100mg three times a day...been on about 14 months up to 300mg now but only twice because three make me feel too spaced out. The only thing they help with it the feeling of being bitten all over by ants....but recently that has started to return...Pregabalin scares me with the possibility of more weight gain Tha I've already had on Gabapentin.....
