Hi has anyone gained weight on Gabapentin. I'm on 900 mg 3 times a day and I've gained nearly a stone while I've been on them.

I'm on 1800mg a day and joined Scottish Slimmers recently, lost 8lb in 3 weeks so I guess if you're careful then you should be ok. xx

I am also on gabapentin and have started to put weight on mainly because im hungry all the time i even wake during the night famished. I have several friends also on gabapentin and they have all got the same problem. I have recently (this week !! ) started to try and lose some weight but already im finding it hard. I dont think ive ever been so hungry!! I did mention it to my gp but he warned not to try losing weight to quickly as he said my body needs its fuel to help fight the fibro.

Hi.l was on 3,600 mg gabapentin for a long time, its a very high dose after breaking my neck and spondilitus so bad l had to have another op on my neck/spine anyway alot of nerve end damage,l never put on any weight at all and also after changing to Pregabin neither made one bit of difference taking them or not only for the first 3 days getting used to the high dose was like a drunk, so l think sometimes it in your own makeup,lm tall and slimmish and stayed that way and lm nearly 67 now,its just that we are all different l think, some put on weight so easily and others dont.xxx

Thank you for your posts. I really need to do something to try and lose some weight but like margaretjo said I'm hungry all the time. I always keep to 3 meals a day but it's so hard. I just got to try harder I guess.

Does anybody know if Gabapentin is used for when you just in pain or does it prevent damage to your nerves. I am diabetic and had problems with nerve pain in my legs for around 6 months but now my legs are a lot better and I only use them now and again. Is it better for me to continue with them regularly. Thanks.

I have been on Gabapentin since 2006, same dose 2700 per day divided into 3 doses. I have just started gaining weight in the last year, almost 50 lbs. I have tried everything to lose it. I run a cattle ranch and horse breeding operation, so am not sitting on couch.

My teeth started fracturing, and lost 5 molars altogether. I have read that Gaba can cause this, has anyone else had this problem. I now have to go and get all the roots pulled out, not looking forward to this, as I don't freeze well. Burn it off, and have nerves in places no other person has....
