Hi Lifeback,

A timely reminder that we should always ask for evidence of identity and for whom they are working before letting anyone at all into our homes. Sadly there are people who do scams and people end up having problems.

Always, always ask for identity and if they can't produce it don't let them in and if they are pushy call the police immediately. If they are genuine they will produce their identification without any problem as they have nothing to hide !!

Hi you could always ask him to wait 5 mins and check then with the benefits office if they are sendinf people around normally then send you a letter saying that they are coming well they use to but i suppose cut backs again they have to cut the everyday mans benefit etc so they can have a real good pensions and redundencies

Hello Lifeback,

I've also had a visit from someone from my local council (with ID & unexpected) who discussed with me what i was receiving etc and also advised on what i should be claiming. I was also unaware at the time the council did those visits as I have been on benefits a while and never had a visit like this.

I cannot find any direct information online about these visits but others are discussing them on forums. Did you get the persons name as you could check with your local council and as others have said they should produce ID & as with the post I've just written about unexpected DWP visits that are happening now I believe you can request they come back on a certain day & time.

Please do see my recent post about DWP visit;

Hi Lifeback

I must admit that this is something else that I was unaware of? It really is best to insist on ID however, just to be on the safe side. I genuinely hope that the visit went really well for you?

Take care
