Hiya....I just got really vhot so switched my fan to blow straight at me and stop moving from left to right. Within minutes the skin on my hand and arm went really sore followed by sharp stabbing pains shooting straight through my hand.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I am so sorry to read that, and I hope that you are feeling okay now? I have fans all over the house at the moment, but I do not let them blow straight at my head or face as I have Migraines and the sensation can start a Migraine. However, I have never had a strange sensation or pain anywhere else.
I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for on this issue, as it sounds very unpleasant.

Hello Miss Boo, yes I too have experienced this, especially if it's a larger fan. I have a hand held one which is like a little box that I carry with me and is rechargeable but even then I tend to move it about. Like Ken, I find that a sudden full on blast can just send me straight into Migraine mode, it's trying to get the balance right, enough to cool you down without the side effects.

I was told do not direct fan straight at you as can cos or make nerve pain worse. As hot air rises, I read that if you put fan on swivel and aim it at floor, it keeps air moving, helping to keep you cooler. It certainly works for me and my older German shepherd who has a really thick coat and doesn't like this weather...... X x
Yes, often have strange pain sensations with hot and cold, it's normal for me. Sometimes hot feels cold like ice!!! The wonderful world of fibro x
Thank everyone...I've always felt a lot worse when the weather gets hot. I used to be a sun worshipper, now I hide away. It feels like the heat draws pain and weakness out of me like a magnet. And yes, if I had the fan blow on my face I get trigeminal neuralgia.
I googled it late last night and it did say cold air blowing can cause a sensory overload causing this soreness and pain, with the nerves. I've never had it that severe from a fan. It literally took 2 minutes. Was dreadful. I aimed my fan at the floor afterwards and still felt the coolness. My hand throbbed for hours. I had to squash it under my pillow. Seemed to help some how. But its still tender this morning.
There is always something!!!!!!!!!!!
