It's definitely worth seeing your GP. Possibly they could refer you for a sleep study to check what is really going on.
Non-restorative sleep is one of the central symptoms of Fibro and this does mean that no matter how much you sleep, your body cannot recover fully from each day. So excessively sleeping with no benefit isn't all that unusual. that's why improving sleep quality is so important with treatment.
HI lexie,
l have suffered with FM for 7 yrs and like you l can sleep for England !!! Sometimes l sleep all night and only wake the next day for food or drink and then still sleep through the next night
.l've fallen asleep during a really exciting film,my favourite soap, l even fell asleep once while drinking hot tea!
l think you can assume you are a |"normal" FM sufferer,
Dont let it upset you too much----just go with it on those days, but, watch for triggers, does it happen more when you have worries or upsets----this can bring mine on====almost as if l dont want to face things.
Do you feel' druged' on these days like your sort of not as everyone else is----i feel like l'm in a bubble---l see everyone and everything l just dont feel a part of it.
Keep smiling and take care, and remember all FM sufferers wonder if they are the only one with there symptoms.
I too have some periods of excess sleep. It is usually in the colder months when I get more stressed and cannot do as much/ hurt so much more. I achieve very little through the winter and fall asleep while eating, drinking (I drink my coffee much cooler now). My doctor has checked and I am border anaemia (border everything) So always keep your doctor up to date as new symptoms occur.
hi everyone I have just joined the forum, and I was greatful to have stumbled upon this post.
I have been sleeping at night a bit better with taking Amitriptyline, but I am still sleeping all day long, just wakening to use the bathroom or get a drink.
I hate sleeping the day away and I'm convinced that there is something else that must be causing the fatigue, I had blood test last week to test for thyroid problem and have been checked for blood count, I'll get the results next week, I do hope I get some answers soon
thanks .. ive been on the sleep waiting list for years .. just nice to know i am as normal as fms can be lol
