AfME ask me once to be in a local paper as someone who was living with CFS. I did do it and horrendous, totally misrepresented and I lost clients as they thought I would let them down even thought I had been living and working with ME / CFS / Fibro for years. Over 55 but No Never NoWay!
I am so sorry to read that. I had an interview with a national newspaper shortly after I was diagnosed, and they wanted to know all about the problems I would have going around old buildings in the dark and climbing etc in night vision goggles. When they printed the article it was more about my arthritis and COPD than my Fibro!
As it happens, I cannot really do any of this anyway, as I now use a tri-walker.
Sorry you had a similar experience. The thing was I got to see the copy before it was printed but not the heading and the bits under the photo most people just read the bits in bold and look at the pictures. I had about 20 phone calls from clients who wanted re-assuring and two just left me without speaking to me at all. I also had a friend who lost a lot of weight and she was interview - you would have thought that all she did all day was sit down and eat cake. She was asked do you like cake and she said yes, most people do.
