Hi I believe you can buy your present car. You need to talk t the dealership explain the problem. You will find they are very helpful. Remember to bargain or haggle over the price they give you there is usually some lee way.

Good luck

You will be offered the chance to buy your car at market value, they offered me mine at such a high price that there was no way that I could afford it. You can apply early for PIP if you think that you will be successful and then you will be able to swap over to a new car before the end of this DLA. If you have a word though, Motability may allow you a bit of an extension on this one. People with adapted cars are allowed to go 5 years before swapping over.

You can extend the lease of your curre t car. Theres a 1 yr or a 2 yr option. If you phone motability & tell them thats what youve decided, you just carry on as you are. Atlernatively there are many nil advance payment cars

I am sorry to say that I had a brief time as car salesman. but we sold a lot of mobility cars that had ran out of contract to the DLA/PIP claimants. you may find the unrealistic price has been governed by the fact good prices are paid for them at the dealers. There areNew cars now with a 3 year warranty for less than £6000 and claiming to do 49 mpg?

Hi it might be worth ringing motability and if your car is low mileage as well ask if they could do an extension on it. My son has a wheelchair access vehicle which is on a 5 yr lease. We have found that with his and also being under the mileage allowance we could ask for an extension so it could be worth a try :)

They will be able give you the best advice.

Good Luck xx

Some dealerships will offer you the chance to buy the car but it will be at forecourt cost normally. I bought my own car with dla as I find the motability scheme so expensive. When I worked out all my costs, insurance, service etc I was much better off financially taking a loan from bank and purchasing a car. You need to look into this hun

I have just got my new motability car.As long as you have 12 months left on DLA then you can get a new car and even if your DLA runs out and there is a delay in your PIP been awarded you can still keep your car till sorted. Mine is due for renewal October 2015. We could of kept our old car until my award notice ran out, but we decided to change as my needs had changed. Got a beautiful Qashqui now best change ever!

I am pretty sure you can buy the car. I have no idea if it would be at a reduced amount though as motability are a business, not sure if they are an actual charity, but there may be schemes avaiable to help you towards the cost. I i now there used to be charities that would help fund part or all of the initial deposit.

Give motability a call, they should be able to advise you better.

I wish you luck and hope you manage to get things sorted out xx

when I asked about buying my car, they said they would send me a price. after that it went to a car auction with a fixed minimum price.

As far as I know motability are allowing people to buy their car or they say they are going to give them £2'000 towards purchasing one. I suggest you ring motability for more info plus you should have been given all the info in your motability mag.

I do not think you should worry at all, how long have you been on dla? if your mobility is for indefinitely then even if you changing to pip you should be alright.try to ask for help with any of the form felling. Try to keep calm and do not panic it will be okay.
