I can't help you but understand how you feel all I can say at the moment is I HATE being a member of the Fibromyalgia club and often think why me as most of us do. They main help I have found since being diagnosed a couple of months ago is asking other members of sites like this, the people who understand most and have the best advise and knowledge on what to ask your gp or on tips for coping and explaining to others.
There seems to be quite a few of us who are really struggling at the moment and can really empathise with you and your situation.
Are you able to access an occupational health person through your HR department? They may be able to give you some ideas and even advise your employer about adjustments that can be made so that you are not on your feet so long.
You didn't say how or who gave you your diagnosis. It is worth asking your GP for a rheumatology referral if it was him. The rheumatologist may be able to prescribe medication other than painkillers for you. If your GP refuses or insists that you only have painkillers then really I would change GPs, he should be doing more for you.
There is help out there, you just have to push to get it. You could also ask for a referral to a Pain Management Clinic, although there may be a long wait.
I am sorry to see you are downsizing. This must be adding to your stress levels and that does not help your symptoms. It would be pointless to say don't worry, worry comes naturally when you are packing up a home. Please be kind to yourself and indulge in a little pampering, even if it is only a warm bath and a DVD.
This is a good site to read and post, there are usually loads of helpful suggestions. If you look on the right side of your screen, you will see different sections in blue that offer advice. If you click on the yellow butterfly at top right then there is a wealth of information that you can access.
I hope this bad time for you soon passes, you have friends here.
Thank you for your wonderful reply, im so overwhelmed with everyones kindness & understanding on here.
My doctor refeered me to a Rhymothogost last year, had to travel an hour distance for appointment , I had been miss diagnosed a while back with Polymyalgia. My rheumatologist request ed me to go to a local pain management class but my doctor said no its not requested on your records & its no benefits. I need heat treatment or some help but to no avail. I didnt know I could claim Pip while working. That is some good news really thought I was put on the scap heap. Will study how its applied for , hopefully successful . THANK YOU for your guidence & caring reply.
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are having so many problems at this time and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your issues.
I have pasted you a link to the GOV.UK website on how to claim PIP, which has now replaced DLA. You can try and claim this benefit whether you are in employment or not, as it is for your disability, so this would help alleviate any financial issues.
I was wondering if there was a different GP at your surgery that you could discuss your situation with? As you may be able to get a referral to A Pain Management Clinic and / or Rheumatology? As this may be beneficial for you?
I genuinely hope that you can get something sorted out for yourself.
Hi there it is a lot of work packing up and moving but I think you have done a wise thing downsizing perhaps cutting some costs enabling you to work part time and be kind to yourself,, you need lots of restful soothing times to enable you to cope. wishing you well. trish
Hi Trish im still waiting on the housing list for smaller place while im struggling to pay the bedroom tax on 2 spare rooms . Housing association sent me letter have to b 6months rent arrears free before considered a move , I cant seem to win with struggling to get out of dept... life is hard being a single women dosnt seem no help at all.
hope all is well with you & thank you for your kind mail. Dont feel so alone now xx
Similar age single bloke here. Much sympathy. Posts don't HAVE to be positive, you whinge if you want and we'll supply soft shoulders and gentle hugs. I downsized this time last year - bedroom "tax" too, rent was the same but glad because the new place is easier to manage and I can rest more between chores. Don't worry about reservations, it's only natural and we're all different. Just be yourself here, you can be yourself without fear. Occy health is great if you can get it. Mine seems to think her job is to keep managers under control, I empathise with that. I bet Ken's link is helpful, he's a good sort - for a vampire. Good luck.
Hi 55lady, was wondering if you could apply to your housing office for discretionary payment to pay 'bedroom tax'. Thats what it is for. I think you need to talk to a welfare advice officer there may be one at housing office othrrwise CABureau. You can also change doctor if yours is not helping you, sorry life is so difficult at moment, hope it improved soon, good luck.
