I would be grateful for any advice please as on a Tuesday I work a 4 hour shift (that's all I can manage in one go)at my local small supermarket. ive noticed by recording on my calendar I wake the next morning with a headache and nausea which last all day.
im unsure if this is a fibro thing or my lupus. I am sensitive to sunlight and shop is lit by strip lights, extra on chillers where I spend the whole 4 hours. my managers have been great and I no longer work on tills as my fatigue makes me stutter and make simple mistakes. I was once reported for being drunk on till but it was slurred speech due to fatigue. I couldn't cope with looking back and forth from screen to screen and customer etc either.
I need to keep my job and continue to prove im worth keeping in the team. is there anything I can do to protect myself from the intense lighting please?
thankyou, a very queezy caninecrazy x

Hello Extreme lighting can be difficult . Do you wear glasses? If you do have you got reactor lights these are the glasses that re act to sunlight and turn a gentle grey to black and if you walk inside on a sunny day they go clear again. They have the ability to shade your eyes when inside, you can get glasses that have a shaded lenses . this might help you.
Let me know how you get on You can get all sorts now there are films that would tone done the screens as well.
Hello there, I suffer with migraines which are triggered by different things, but strip lighting particularly if it's flickering can easily cause me problems. I agree with gins, sometimes reactor glasses can help to a degree, but I think this is possibly something you should run past your doctor and see if there is anything they can
suggest which would make the situation easier for you to handle.
thankyou, I have an eye test due next week so I will ask them if reactive lenses would help me. I dont wear glasses at present but its been 4 years since my last check, going to ask about a hearing test too as I cant hear my alarm clock if I lay on my right side! lol. I did ask santa for a new body; a taller , thinner and healthy one......dont think he got my letter! x
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are having these issues at work, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your problems.
I have migraines and therefore I have chronic problems with most kinds of lighting, including sunlight. So this could be a factor?
I was wondering if there was anything else in the store that you might be having a reaction to? Possibly a smell and / or vapours from something? Could it be stress related, having to be bright and chirpy for people even when you haven't really go the energy?
I think I would discuss the possibilities with your GP if I were you?
yes I do have migraines im lucky that I don't have the pain I just have the flashing lights, light squiggles in my vision and neasea that my affected vision causes. I do have a dull headache all day most days ive taken that as normal now as had it so many years.
yes I do put on "my mask/brave face" when im at work. you have to be chirpy and happy all the time. this may sound strange but I do have the constant sniffles when im at work, I blame the air con for that and working in a chilled area?
im yet to find a GP in my surgery who knows about lupus and fibro as my lovely previous GP retired.
I always get sniffles with migraines, i find light, smells and noises in supermarkets really hard to cope with and try to avoid shops as much as possible. Hope you find an answer.
