Just when you thought they couldn't get any worse...

The DWP and their helper fairies have once more shown their true colours while assessing a disabled lady's fitness to work. Understandably the family are up in arms. Does anyone think it will change with a new contract instead of Atos, or is this just a sign of things to come? :( xx

Who knows if it will change!!! It would be good if the government saw the error of their ways, but do keep in mind, they have to save money to pay for their second homes etc etc etc...... Sorry feeling a bit cynical. X

It's fair enough to feel cynical, they don't exactly do anything to dispel the rumours do they! Xx

How very sad for the family and the many other people who are being told to go to work or lose benefits. Why will employers hire some one who is sick if they have so many able bodied people to choose from. I worked until I literally dropped, I can't function for a whole day anymore, why would any one want to employ me or others like me, its even hit or miss as to which day I am on my feet! Feel so much sadness and compassion for those who are being treated like criminals instead of the gold of society that teaches humans how to be human and care for each other.

It's tragic isn't it. The same happened to me, I clung on to my job for dear life but it very nearly killed me, and now I'm in a state where I may never work again, at 37. I'm sure the DWP could decide that I am fit to work with Bipolar, Fibro and hypermobility syndrome, but as you say, what right minded employer would take on someone who couldn't even commit to turning up on a day to day basis because of the unpredictable nature of their disability? In my last job employer was desperate to sack me and angered at the existence of the Equality Act - I'm sure the DWP don't take account of this! Xx

Hi Lipbalmaddict

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I saw this on the news late last night and felt completely repulsed by it. It was clearly an unforgivable act of stupidity by somebody within their organisation.

I would truthfully like to believe that things will change for the better, as and when, a new organisation come in to pick up the pieces.

All my hopes and dreams for you.

I stopped trying for a full time job years ago. Everything would be going great ,until they asked for my medical history.then id get dropped like a brick and to be honest I wouldn`t have employed me. Luckily I had contacts in the cleaning industry. sue
