NO idea if there is an documented link, HOWEVER - I had the implant and was in agony. If you have a predisposition to fibro - and I guess by that I mean there are symptoms there, but not enough for you to have said "hold on a minute there" to yourself - then ANYTHING can kick you over the edge.
I had my implant removed after 18 months as I couldn't bear the pain. And I still can't - 5 years later....
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are suffering as a result of your implant. The only experience I have of this, relates to my daughter. She has one, and after she had it she told me that it really hurt. However, a week later she said that the pain had gone away.
Spirit may be on to something here? As with Fibro you never know what pain you are going to get? I would say however, that with any new pain and you do not understand why you have it; you should always go and discuss it with your GP? After all, it is what they get paid for.
I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your issue.
Whoa there, Charlie-red, that's strange because my pain started when my testosterone implants were wearing off. Used to get terrible pain on waking up in a morning. It was around 2 years later after stopping the implants that the same pain started again.
After around 2 years of blood tests and different pills I too was sent to a rhematolgist and was diagnosed with fibro. I'd also had a car accident 2 years prior to being diagnosed hope this helps.
Hi Chrissyarry. Interested in your having had a car accident. I had whiplash through a climbing accident just before fibro symptoms started. I have read here and there but don't really know if it's true that neck injury can cause fibro. I really wish the medics would get on and give a definitive answer to the fibro problem. It is very unpleasant / distressing / worrying / depressing having this phantom illness that no-one can explain or understand and is generally treated as not a real illness.
Hi Charlie. I've also got a contraception implant. I have had it since 2007 but I've only really had fibro symptoms since 2012. So, in my case, it doesn't look as if there is any connection. But I'd be interested to hear if you find out there is a link. I'd get it taken out in a flash if I thought it would help. Hope you are getting on ok. A x
