Diary of a Benefit Scrounger. The problem with bigots is.... Posted: 13 Feb 2014 12:20 PM PST
The problem with lung disease is, you kind of have to breathe. At least a bit regularly.
And the problem with heart failure is hearts can't really fail. They're just not optional.
The problem with bowel disease is you have to eat. Quite a lot. I've tried stopping, it doesn't really work. And food is incredibly yummy. And it nurtures our souls more than our taste buds let on.
With kidney failure, hours dedicated to satisfying the great dialysis beast allows you to process liquids, which is fairly non-negotiable by anyone's standards.
And the problem with cancer is it doesn't give the tiniest s*1t which one of us it invades or where.
But the trouble with bigots is, they ignore all of that. They can only see one problem.
"Why is that bloke down the street getting something I'm not? And why should I pay for it??"

I had to post this as it really does sum up a lot of people who I have known in my life, and a lot of people who I feel have that attitude but are furtive about it.
Diary of a Benefit Scrounger is a great site with some excellent links. Check it out.

Thanks for sharing this, Terry. If you come across any bigots who would like to know what having fibro feels like, I will gladly share my pain. If only it was that easily transferable
Thanks Terry, I dotti what foggy has said and will read it when I get back, am off to buy a new bed, the motor on mine has stopped working, I've had it for 13 yrs and used it constantly so guess it's time to replace ....hugs....Dee xx
Terry!! What a wonderful post. I think all of us can relate to this in some way. Like others here, I really wish these people could live with my disabilities for just 1 day....I think they'd give up after 1 hour, whereas we have to soldier on 24/7! XX
Thanks for posting this for us Terry, I will have a look @ the sight you mentioned.
I have actually been called this by my own sister! To which I replied "Walk/limp a Mile in my shoes", before passing any cruel judgements on me! I would willingly give her all my pain and disabilities, in return for being able to do her job or husbands. I wish we could "Plug" our pain/disabilities into people who make these comments for just a day. They would soon be begging for their own lives back!
Maybe, just maybe retrieve what they have actually said, trouble is with Bigots they have "Tunnel Vision!".
Thank you all for all for all your comments, I posted this because I am in a really poor way at the moment and this just fitted with a lot of things that have been going on in my life.
Take care and kindest regards
Terry
