Can you please tell me if fibro is recognised as an illness as I have been made to believe its in my head?!
Hi Blingz, and welcome to our site. I hope you will find it to be one of the most informative and friendliest of places. You can find a lot of information by clicking on the FibroAction butterfly in the top right of the screen. Also the sections in blue down the right side of the screen are also very useful.
I think I'm right in saying it is recognised as Fibromyalgia Syndrome and it most definitely isn't in one's head. I am 50 and was told when I was 17 that I had fibrositis. It wasn't until I was over 40 that a new and much more informed doctor gave me the proper diagnosis of fibromyalgia, (and told me that fibrositis and Fibro as we know it are one and the same thing) I felt so relieved as I thought it was all in my head and he assured me it wasn't and that all the pain, migraines, fatigue etc I'd experienced over the years was completely explained.m that having been said, and as I assume you realise, that is the start of the journey.
I really to think you have found the very best possible place to come for answers to questions and good understanding sport from those who know what you are going through, so pull up a chair and join us

Hi Bling, it is recognized as an illness, it is not imaginary it is one of the most horrid general pain illnesses there is about. Some Doctors still dont accept it but they are wrong and out dated.
The treatment you have been having is good now it is down to pain controll experience and time.
The site is brilliant look on the left hand side for articles which will ease your path and show you what fibroaction.org are all about if you see the caption with a butterfly that is our mother board who look after us.
I hope you enjoy the site as much as we do we not only share experiences but also we try to divert ourselves on grey days with games, if you fel like it join in please you will be most welcome.

Hi Blingz
Welcome to the site and I sincerely hope that you find it as useful as I do. To answer your question, YES! Fibromyalgia Syndrome is certainly a recognised illness. I would also like to say that I am so sorry to hear that yours is getting worse. From personal experience I would say that it is going to take time to find the right medications for you, and even then, many people on the forum say they still suffer with pain and fatigue. I take Nortryptaline for my Fibromyalgia, I was wondering what you have?
I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to the issue and get some relief.
Take care

Hi Blingz,
welcome to this forum. You'll find loads of information and friendly support here so pull up a chair, grab and coffee and make yourself as comfy as possible.
Getting the right treatment can be very much a trial and error system but hopefully you will find something that helps you soon.
Hugs

Hi Blingz
Welcome
This is only my personal experience, but I have come across hospital consultants that don't "believe" in Fibromyalgia yet I was formally diagnosed with it by a Rheumatologist at a hospital!
Some GP's understand the condition and are brilliant whilst others have treated me very badly by telling me to take some Nurofen. I truly could have thought about that myself without having to go to the doctors. There's no way in this world that Nurofen is going to go anywhere near touching the pain I'm in.
Anyway, I've finally got my pain relief kind of sorted out.
It takes the edge of my pain, but it never goes away completely. I've had to live with constant pain for most of my life.
I wish you lots of peace
Hugs
