Is anyone's hair falling out?
I have to say I have the same problem!! Every time I brush there is handfuls ! It makes me wonder if it is a fibro issue because it is quite common in sufferers...x
Hi Hold, major hair loss (alopecia) is almost always associated with Lupus. Fibro mimmics many of the Lupus indications, so best this is a blood test for Lupus. I was told by my Rheumatologist that the tests are not always conclusive and sometimes a second one is taken at a later date particularly if you are showing mostly signs of Lupus as opposed to Fibro.
Hope this helps

I have this too. Seems to come in phases - be ok for couple weeks, then hair falls out in handfuls, then ok again. Luckily not enough for anyone else to have noticed x
I had Alopecia last year but put this mostly down to stress as my mother wasn't well, and by January this year I had lost so much hair that I shaved it all off. It started to grow back evenly then it done it again. The doctor gave me some shampoo to use the first time, but after the second time I started using "alpocin" the one the advertise for men, I believe they do a womens one now but it us more expensive of course, my hair grew back quite thick and is shoulder length. The alpocin shampoo is about £6 a bottle but I used it everyday and you don't need a lot. It worked for me. Hope this helps
Hi yes hair loss is an issue for me too. Like a previous comment my loss comes in waves. Some weeks nothing then bam lots and lots. It's a very visual symptom in some ways as even though we are "sick" we still need to feel like a woman and doing are hair is part or that. I am in a loss stage at the moment and hoping it doesn't thin too much!! I would mention it to the GP though xx
I do hun my hair been falling out in small clumps that's due to going through Menapause and I haven't seen my women troubles for quite a few months and I suffer from fibromyalgia syndrome
Its can be a sign of B12 deficiency too. Xx
Yes, I'm going to a hair loss clinic later today. A lot of drugs can cause hair loss, I take Clonazepam for Interstitial Cystitis and myofascial pain, that is associated with hair loss.
Mine used to be terrible, my thyroid has always tested ok.
The only way i stopped it was to have my hair cut really short. As years have gone on i have gone from having really thick hair to really fine too.
hi yes i get it as well its fibro related .
Yep it got that bad I've had my hair cut short xx
Mine too - I think I've probably lost about 1/3 of my hair over the last 6 months or so. Thankfully, I had good thick hair to start with, but it is now very thin on the top particularly. Blood tests showed nowt but a slightly low iron level and my thyroid treatment seems to be working fine etc. After years and years of Fibro, I think this has been one of the most distressing symptoms so far. GP gave me some iron as this might help she thought and has put it down to Fibro and ? delayed shock/stress of husband leaving funnily enough, about 6 months ago... You're certainly not alone in this. x
I had this too very distressing. I stopped using red hair dye and used nourkrin products both the shampoo and tablets helped a lot. X
Hi i have shoulder length hair,i am loosing a fair amount.try applying argan oil once a week then just wash out it should strengthen it so less breakage.
I lost all my hair in 1974, aged 12. @ the time, horrendous, my poor mother dragged me from 1 doctor to another with no joy. low thyroid function diagnosed 1989, aged 27 after birth 2nd daughter, followed by many other probs. now of course diagnosed with fibro i think about 8? years ago. I am also aware that "growing pains" etc. in childhood was fibro. I believe it is all connected, many are auto-immune disorders. abuse in childhood, post traumatic stress etc. mental health stuff, def. connected.
Since August my hair has been falling out so that it is so thin at the front it looks like I am bald, not nice on a lady..I immediately stopped colouring my hair and am letting it go natural which is grey. I have been told stress related, am using betnovate lotion and Nizorel shampoo as also developed scalp psoriasis... fed up
My hair is falling out too. I notice it most when I wash my hair- big handfuls come out. Don't know if it is down to fibro, b12 deficiency or PCOS. It's really horrible tho- it used to be really thick and lovely -not anymore xx
Glad to hear its not only me. I argee being a woman it is horrible to have your hair fall out. I do have a b12 deficiency so it might be that I will speak with my GP when I go back for more meds. Thanks everyone x
yes my hair comes out, every time i wash it. my hair is getting very thin . i was told b2 is meant to help but have not tried it. any ideas i would be great full for some tips. take care fibro friend
my hair was way pass my bum, but it was gettting thin on top so i went and had my hair cut short, it looks much better, but now it is getting thin again, have been very stressed alot lately, so i guess stress as something to do with it and i have had some bad flare up of late
Ive' lost most of my hair I think its' something to do with medi. I wear wig, do not take it hard because that will not help nether.
every time i wash my hair more than just a few strands come out. i have as much to roll into a tiny ball. this last year, more hair has been coming out and my hair a lot thinner now. i do think it part of the fibro
Stress doesn't help. The more you worry about it the worse it seems.Try thickening shampoo and conditioner.Hope it improves for you.(fellow fibromite)
