I am sorry I cannot help here hun, hope you get the answers you need, it if helps the pensioners around here seem to take corners pretty well on them xxxxx
the only thing i can think of, compare riding a bicycle with a tricycle, 3 wheels more stable than 2. whether motorised version 3 wheels/4 wheels? oh, just another thought, vague memory of an old advert, motor scooter with 5 wheels more stable than 4? all the best! xx
Hi
I have a three wheel scooter which I do the local Shopping in and walk the dogs with, they can be a bit unstable on corners if you go to fast but you soon get the idea of what is fine and what is to fast.
if you can try it out on a bit of a run (if they will let you) you will soon find out how you get on with it.
I had a Sterling Four wheeler some years ago but it felt so cumbersome to me so now I have my little three-wheeler. I also have a converted vehicle that I can drive it into and that is how I walk the dogs (We have four, two Shih-tzu's a Lhasa-Apsu and a Cocker Spaniel) the Cocker was going to the dog rescue so we rescued it first (or my wife and daughter did) and we have had it for seven months now and she is 13 months old and still mad.
Give it a go to see if you feel OK with it and if you do not then do not get it as you will not use it if you do not like it.
Take care and kindest regards
Terry
Hi
My first scooter was a well used three wheeler. It was better in the way you can stretch your legs alongside the front, useful if you haven't got good knee bends. It was lighter to put in the car and it had a much tighter turning circle, good if you need to negotiate supermarket aisles. There is a trade off in that you need to be aware of steep cambers on the pavement and potholes. If you can see the problem ahead you can generally get round with care. The only time I was unstable was me going to fast, (and showing off!) with large tree roots in the pavement. There is also the inconvenience of being unable to use two ramps to get the scooter in the house or car.
I now have a fourth hand four wheeler which is okay but my knees are not very comfortable, also the manoeuvrability is not so good.
If you have a chance of a bargain it is not only the number of wheels you should look at. The expensive items to replace are the batteries, also check all the buttons work for the lights etc. You need to be aware there is no brake. You press the lever to go and take your thumb off to stop. This means you can have an overrun of a couple of feet, not good in a crowded area. I'm always catching my husband's ankles!
Hope this helps.
BTW I still prefer the three wheeler, but that's just me.
Id like to say to everyone ty for your reply's im going to take my time and research ty again
Hi, very good advice from bluebell. My first scooter was a very old 3 wheeler. I have a 4 wheeler now which is more stable but less manoeuvrable. I would recommend going to try before u buy. A lot of mobility shops have older/reconditioned scooters too. Hope u find right one for u xxx
hi i did have a 3 wheel scooter but i found it very unstable i now have a 4 wheel that i feel very confident with i do go round the supermarkests with it as long as you put it on slow turning corners you will be fine i got mine from ebay its a path and road scooter on the road it does 8 miles per hour i paid £300 3 years ago and its a great scooter .hope this helps .
I had a 3 wheeled scooter and it tipped over on the pavement. Luckily I was OK and I now have a Quingo scooter which has 5 wheels and very stable, expensive though.
i personally dont like trhee whellers but i guess if you are very tiny they ok but i have two one u fold up in car and big one i go out in summer on my own but i would never buy new because you can get brilliant second hand one look if u need to on auction site
