I would like to say thank you for your comments on flu jab v no flu jab. no definite decision yet but I think that I may go for it

Now I know it`s fibro I can insist on better pain management,if the worst comes to the worst.Thanks again and I`ll keep you posted

Hi there,I've never had the flu jab but after changing my g.p I had a message sent on my phone inviting me to arrange to get one done.Iam however a little reluctant now but wouldn't want to get the flu especially being on my own with two kids to look after so I think I will get it done.Hope it goes o.k for you xx

I'm a bit late in answering but my son has severe chronic fatigue and chronic pain. Every November for the past 3 years he's had a massive flare up, last year he was in bed in continual pain from Nov until June this year. I noticed an article in the M.E. Association booklet about the Flu Vaccine which stated the vaccine can initiate a flare up and of course he was having the vaccine in October. This year we're giving the vaccine a miss because the M.E. Ass recommendation is that should the patient be in regular contact in a busy environment then the vaccine is recommended but should they be in more isolated environment it might be a consideration to give it a miss. As his immune system is totally wasted and a simple cold can have him in bed for weeks I've taken the added precaution of giving him really expensive but recommended vitamins to protect his immune system etc and will carefully note how he fairs without the vaccine.

The vaccine can be a life saver but if you do have the vaccine it might be an idea to take note of any reaction. Hopes this helps.

I usually get the flu jab but havent the past couple of years. The reason for this is when I got the flu jab Id be fine for a day or two then I would be floored for near a month and not much better after that. I didnt get it a couple of years ago as I had my friends wedding that weekend. I had a lot more energy that winter. I did the same last year and Im doing the same this year. I make sure I take supplements to keep my immune system in top condition.

I had the jab every year after having a virus that left me with dodgy kidneys, Then I had one 3yrs ago that I THINK,may have caused a major flar. It took 2yrs for pain to become barable.It was due to this flair that i was diagnosed.The pain ect is now a lot worse than pre jab. but been told that I REALLY should have one. I`ll be honest I`m scared But I think that I may go for it....x

i can understand why your a bit hesitant but apparently according to the doctors they say the flu jab has much improved over the last few years with less people having a reaction to it just talk to the nurse before you have it hope it goes well for you I only had one years ago that i had a reaction(not severe) but have been ok ever since xx

I have just had mine, my arm is a bit achy, I've been very sleepy and headaches ( but that could be just normal) hopefully nothing worse... Fingers crossed.

I had my flu jab a week ago. Felt tired; left arm ached a bit more than usual for 48 hours. No further reaction. The nice surprise was being told by the nurse that a pop-up on her computer screen said I was eligible for a free jab! If aches and pains not too bad, I would recommend.

Hi I had mine three weeks ago no adverse effects. Much better than having the flu. So I strongly suggest it.

My immune system is killed off by the chemo in Simponi..that drug is made

to kill off the over active immune system..I have RA,,,I can honestly say that

I do not get much illness..but when I do, it's quite severe..I did have the flu

shot about 3-4 weeks ago without any incident..it made me tired for a day,

but other than that, nothing. I live in the USA where RA is treated aggressively.

with several injections of chemo (not enough to lose hair or have outward symptoms)

No RA symptoms of any kind since starting 3 yrs ago..=))

Fibro is such a tough one though..it seems to have a million symptoms..IF my

doctor cannot identify where the troubles come from- he puts it in the fibro

disease colum. Frustration is my mindset when it comes to fibro...too many

symptoms. (laughs) Good luck in your decisions to get the flu shot or not. xxxx
