They also had to op on calcification to open the hole that the ligament/tendon (not sure) goes through as it had all calcified together. Is there a name for this? Is there a reason?
Has anyone had to have excess bone re... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Has anyone had to have excess bone removed from shoulders which has to be surgically removed & which I'm told could need to be again?
Hi
I am waiting to go into hospital for a decompression of the shoulder caused by arthritis there going to remove excess bone I have just had my letter for pre assessment on the 12th Nov, I should of had it done on the 18th July but due to having a blocked artery I had to have a stent put in first so hopefully they will be able to do the op this time....
Gentle Hugs x
Oh poor you - both of mine were a great success & have great use of them again. They did them one at a time so I at least had use of one in-between. .All the best for yours which sounds imminent - fingers crossed for you. Sounds like you've had loads to deal with this year ! x
Yes - had decompression done on both shoulders. Not much fun but not so much pain and have better movement too.
Yes, I, too, had a decompression op on the right shoulder (and part of the clavicle removed too) but this was a result of a road traffic accident. Unlike the others though, I have constant problems with this and almost wish it had never been done. Luck of the draw and skill of the surgeon I guess. Don't use my experience as a yardstick though as most seem to get relief from this op.
wow..didnt realise these calcification things on the shoulders were a fibro thing too...I had excruciating pain in my right shoulder which steadily got worse over the past year. i was sent for therapy on it but because of the lack of movement I had an ultra scan and they said it was my ligaments catching on this bit of bone. They first gave me 2 sessions of some form of ultra sound blasting treatment that did nothing and then I had 2 injections into it in mid august this year. HEAVEN!!! well for 4 weeks anyway and it is back again. I am waiting to be referred again as consultant discharged me after the injections, diagnosing me with fibro and sending me on my way with a leaflet.
So it is a relief to know that an op can actually be done to remove this picec of bone. I hope you are ok and not in to much pain. And although I cant be of any help to you regarding your question, I thank you for posting it as at least I know there is more that I can have to help. xxx
I've always thought that it was general wear & tear. all the best with your referral x
