I get alsorts of problems in my mouth to I have tori mandibular , at the too, I frequently burn my mouth and forget to wait for my food to cool first before I eat it, I mean cool like nearly cold, and any warm drinks, can't eat anything sharp. I'm sick of it. I get other problems. I don't know if anyone is aware of the white coating on tounge with fibro , I have that too. Tbh there's soon many things building up on my list. I'm trying not to look at it all in a way it's all fibo, but rejon it's all related as it comes up on the fibo listing. X

I had the white coating on my tongue to i think my antibiotic triggered it off. My GP gave me Nystan oral suspension drops which i put on my tongue a few times a day. It tastes really nice and seemed to clear it up quite a bit. The only problem was the side effects.... it gave me bad tummy cramps I had to stop taking it. Maybe you can google it and see what you think. x

jjojay in reply to curlyloxx

I've googled it, problem is I have IBS and anything seems to set it off, but it's worth trying to see, process of elimination seems to be the only way with everything . Thanks x

I know how you feel with the IBS, another thing that has come along with good old FM. I have tried to give up mainly wheat things - bread, cakes, biscuits and fried food... all the good stuff and it seems to be ok for now... I keep saying i'm going keep a food diary to see what triggers off my IBS and contributes to the pain. Maybe its time for me to stop saying it and start doing it!

The white coating on your tongue indicates a candida overgrowth in your GI tract. Your mouth is part of the GI tract. Candida overgrowth usually is a result of taking antibiotics. What happens is the antibiotics kill off the good intestinal flora which allows the candida and other bad bacteria to take over. You need to take probiotics to replace the good intestinal bacteria. There are also many things you can do to kill the candida....like don't eat sugar (sugar feeds candida), don't eat anything that contributes to fermentation (like vinegar, sugar, yeast), and do a candida cleanse which consists of consuming diatomaceous earth, bentonite clay, and natural antifungals like oil of oregano, grapefruit seed extract, and Pau de Arco tea. You can look this information up by googling "candida cleanse". There is an excellent holistic nutritionist (can't remember her name) who created a program for killing candida, my son is doing her program right now. It costs nothing except for the couple of products that you can buy at any health food store or online. Her website is called "The Whole Journey". I do not get paid or rewarded to promote her website and I am not affiliated with her in any way other than being able to say my son is doing FANTASTIC since starting her protocol!! Good luck to you!

Seems to be a lot of this happening with teeth. After reading up and all the posts it sounds like it could be fibro, but you just don't know there's so many different things. I know my calcium is a bit low and my gums hurt, along with this white coating on my tounge , I brush my teeth loads there's lovely n white lol, bit they say really white teeth ain't healthy . My mom says my teeth are not good . X

White coating on tongue = candida overgrowth.

My teeth crumble. I didn't know it was a fibro thing. I get TMJ so I grind at night which doesn't help. I've lost 2 because they crumbled and I'm fighting to save 2 more at the moment. I hate it. I've always been careful with dental hygiene. It's embarrassing......buy also I wonder if the same will happen to my bones......But my mum is very similar to me. She has RA and her bones are very strong thankfully.

I have had tooth trouble this year as well had an absess got a rash from thw antibiotics and ended up having the tooth out also get jaw pain just another thing to add to the fybro list

jjojay profile image
jjojay in reply to karen-t

Jaw pain ,, I'm sure it's a fibro thing positive . It can't not be, it may not be on the list but should be. It's pretty common , if you get to look at the hundreds of posts I've seen it like a common problem. Thus why I rekon teeth grinding clenching snoring ,, it seems like everyone had it sometime . My head hurts sometimes from the amount of pressure from clenching . I may get a brace from sleep clinic because they say it helps ,, sorry to hear you've been in pain. X

I get ear pain too,, it' almost feels like their constantly blocked and crackle all time, docs looked at them loads theirs no infection but they hurt. They say ears eyes nose n throat are all connected , well they all seems to be a problem for me along with my gums lol. Having to go eye hospital real problems there and the deterioration has been quick , I feel like I have something in my throat like a lump or like something's not gone down , sinus pain too. Wonder if this is fibro. , I've head people say they feel like something's stuck in their throat too. Is doctor giving you antibiotics for your ears? , sometimes I wonder if the antibiotics set off other problems because I allways get a urinary infection when I'm given them. Then I need more to get rid if that ,, lol. Am a list cause lol x

Hi

I have ear pain and a feeling of it being blocked usually the left side and a feeling of running water.I have trouble with my eyes they are dry and I get double vision. I am also going to Barts Dental hospital in London as I have no bone in the bottom of my mouth. I often have a sore throat. I have had all the usual tests for all. Every time I am told it's because of the fibro. x

Donna777 profile image

Have you had your thyroid checked? An enlarged thyroid can feel like there's something stuck in your throat. That happened to me suddenly back in 2010 and later that year I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Or perhaps could it be phlegm from sinus drainage? This has also happened to me and my wonderful ENT doctor told me to gargle with STRONG salt water. He said to stir a heaping tablespoon of salt into about 6-8 ounces of warm water and gargle the entire glass (not all at once of course, lol - gargle spit, gargle spit, etc. until it's all gone). I had tried salt water gargling before but it never worked so I was skeptical. Well when I tried it his way it WORKED!! I now know the reason it never worked for me before is because I wasn't using enough salt! It has to be very strong. After I was done gargling, the stuff in my throat disappeared within a few hours! It was amazing!! I told my son to try it when he was having problems from pollen last spring. He was skeptical but tried it anyhow and a few hours later he was amazed that it really worked!

If you grind your teeth it's worth seeing your doctor , the reason I say this is grinding sleep apnea and snoring seems fibro related , I say this because I've just been to a sleep clinic and it seems common with fibro , think its called Bruxam , something like that. Don't want to sound like a no it all because I'm new to this and i get things mixed up sometimes, Brain capacity only works mid morning , lol, but I've also read it in a book, book Making sense of Fibromyalgia , it's one that was published in the states . It mentioned Bruxam , I will get back to you when I pick my book up later . I remember it stating that teeth is a problem , grinding whist sleeping. I'm sure I clench a lot too. Will post bk to you , x

What an excellent question curlyloxx. I have trouble with my teeth too in fact I even dream about them falling apart and losing them all. My back tooth lost its filling over Christmas but doesn't hurt so the dentist must have done something to the nerve last time. I had another tooth fall apart earlier this year but hadn't put it down to fibro.

jjojay profile image
jjojay in reply to Angeldancea812

My Son has that dream , that his teeth are falling out. He is 25 and dreams it regular. I also worry bout him because he has health issues and aches all over his white blood cells are a bit low and he had list a good bit of hair loss. He seems not so bad at the moment but is tired a lot . They say fibro can be a relative thing, I saw it on a website , I also see myself in him with the way he says he doesn't feel great . I'm hoping he doesn't have fibro ,, x

I worry about that too. With 2 daughters and what they say can be a hereditary condition. All you can do is hope for the best and encourage them to grab life with both hands and do all they can while they are young in case they do get it later.

I think dreaming about teeth crumbling or falling out is very different. Thats to do with insecurity and facing responsibilities I think

jjojay profile image
jjojay

He started getting poorly the last year he was in Uni, I noticed he had a lot if problems I had , but I wasn't as young , his hair loss was noticeable and he went to the doctors and they ran blood tests he is prone to chest infections , he doesn't smoke , he is so young and always feels tired . They have given him anti depressants , at least we can keep an eye on them , and Weil know before it gets into later stages and that may help. He has his whole life to look forward to and his business is just started and he is looking forward , I've noticed like me he really feels the cold and aches , it's worrying isn't it, take Care . X

Donna777 in reply to jjojay

How is his iron level? I have anemia often and when I get cold and ache it's usually because my iron is low. My son (age 19) also had some troubles with being cold and his iron has always been good but he found out last summer that he has several deficiencies - vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, and vitamin E. And those are just the ones they tested!!

He also had costochondritis which is a red flag symptom for vitamin D deficiency. Costochondritis can cause achy chest muscles - it can also present as sore/tender shins. My son had the achy chest muscles (severe). He was so scared, thinking he was having a heart attack! It's a different type of pain than HA though, it's more of a tight muscle feeling when you stretch your chest muscles or bend over forward, your back muscles can also hurt.

Magnesium deficiency can cause muscle aches (I have fibromyalgia and magnesium has done absolute WONDERS for my achiness!). Magneisum and K2 are also responsible for directing calcium into the teeth and bones. If you are lacking in these two nutrients you will end up with calcium in places it should not be - like in soft tissues. This will manifest in disorders such as bone spurs and arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

As important as calcium is, I personally believe magnesium is even more important. We get so much calcium from our everyday foods but we don't get so much magnesium from foods. Just think of all the foods that say they are "calcium enriched". Well what about magnesium??? A large majority of people have a magnesium deficiency and have no idea they have it! This is because it's not talked about like calcium deficiency and we don't have magnesium enriched foods (but we should!). Another red flag for magnesium deficiency is constipation or even IBS.

Some people with Fibro do have TMJD as well, which is associated with bruxism (teeth grinding).

If your meds are causing dry mouth (which isn't healthy for your gums or teeth) it may be worth discussing with your doctor if there is an alternative.

FWIW, the white coating on the tongue is not specifically a Fibro thing, but may be a sign of Candida infection in the mouth. It is possible to get systemic Candida and this has some symptom overlap with Fibro so can be masked by it.

Teeth grinding .. It has another name but I can't spell it is the cause of me breaking three teeth in the past 10 yrs. I have put it down to night time pain. I have cracked and chipped all my front teeth too. Dentist said its pointless me paying to fit them as I will only wreck them again. I have to pay privately for dentistry as couldn't get Nhs dentist so at least I know he isn't trying to rip me off.

Also wake up with clenched hands and have to be very careful at the mo as I have just had carpal tunnel surgery. So double the pain at the mo:( xx

i have the same issue. according to some websites i checked out it can be a side effect of amitriptyline due to dry mouth. if you dont produce enough saliva in your sleep the bacteria multiply much more than normal and thus rot your teeth faster. sorry it isnt better news, but if you tell your GP they might be able to give you something else instead of the amitriptyline.

curlyloxx profile image
curlyloxx in reply to stimpy

Thank you for sharing. I've been on amitriptyline for a long time now, and even though i drink water through out the night i still wake up gasping for a drink because i can't swallow.... I wonder if FMS will eventually go away or if we just have to learn to live with it. If been told both things by different Docs do they even know??

LindseyMid profile image
LindseyMid in reply to curlyloxx

My answer to that would be "neither!". Fibro is a chronic condition, so it will not just disappear. But with effective treatments, it can be managed, so you may not have to live with it everyday forever. :)

I believe fibro has something to do with magnesium deficiency. I have fibro and magnesium has done wonders for me! I also tested very low for magnesium last year despite taking high doses of magnesium. That right there tells me everything I need to know! When I don't take my magnesium my fibro pain increases. Then when I start taking it again (or increase intake), the fibro pain and stiffness greatly diminish! I don't believe fibro is a "disease", I believe it's a deficiency. Just think of scurvy, rickets, and pellegra and how way back when they thought those were diseases too....then they found out they were nothing more than nutrient deficiencies!! I have to wonder how many of our modern day "diseases" are nothing more than deficiencies that they just haven't figured out yet?? Or they just don't WANT to figure it out because of all the $$$ to be made in the treatment of these so-called diseases???

I recently lost all my top teeth... Healthy teeth but all came loose... No gum disease... I have fibro and in all my joints there are loads of bits of bone... Like tiny marbles, as though my bones are just crumbling away... I'm convinced the fibro is the cause of losing my teeth... 🙁🙁 xx
