I had a blue badge that expired a year ago and still haven't got round to reapplying for it.Do you have to have a medical now for it?x

do you not need one then, what have you been using? i understood expired badges were meant to be returned to the issuing office when expired.

if you have not reapplied, they are certainly going to insist on a medical unless you are in receipt of HR mobility on DLA. the application can be found online, its a much longer form now.

I do have HR mobility.I kept using it even after it expired.Due to my depression I have not got round to reapplying and have a mountain of letters that I need to sort out as well. Its another of those things that I need to sort out but haven't.I keep saying that I will have a day to catch up on everything but never do.I don't have much motivation to do anything ATM x

you must renew it then. download the form and send it with a copy of your DLA award notice. you will still have to pay the £10 ... new rules but you will still be entitled to blue badge. but you must not use it after it has expired, you could get fined xxx

Many thanks fibro,I have a form that was sent to me quite a while ago, guess I could still use that form?I will have a look for it and put it on my table so I don't forget to do it x

i dont know when they changed the form. when you find it, google blue badge application and it should come up with the downloadable application. you will be able to then compare what you have there. i used the downloadable form. you also now have to pay for the badge, ive been told that has been the case for a while, but this year was the first time i had to pay. Its £10 and you have have to pay that every three years!

Try not to leave it too long to reapply xx

I know what you mean.I don't use it now as it's so out of date and I don't go out often now but I will apply for a new one though :)

A green badge? I don't know as I have never applied for one, I imagine you will have to demonstrate that you are practically incapable of walking very far as that is the whole point of having a blue badge. I hope it goes well for you. :)

Never heard of that. It must be something new. Good luck

Hi,

I had my blue badge assessment last week and got a letter this week telling me I got it.

Basically you need to show and say why you need a blue badge ie how your mobility is affected.take GP/consultant letters with you if you have any.also your repeat prescriptions.if you have someone who helps care for you on a regular basis then take them with you so they can explain what it's like living with you.

Be honest and say it like it is.

Good luck, hope it goes well for you.

Mmm well i applied for it but dont have dla... And dont have any of the above i did tell my GP i was applying and she did say she would back me up, so will just need to be open and honest and hope i hold my nerve as il get really anxious, and forget what i need to say. What i find really wierd is they have already cashed my cheque 2 weeks ago, did you have to do anything ie walk a sertain distance, did you have a walking stick with you?

Not sure walking stick reference I always have mine as sure as 'my left foot', these times! Best to keep at hand. For all financial/state-health requeries, all records should be saved.

if you regularly use a walking stick, you should tell them on the form, and if you have a medical you would be using it when you attend. if you have a home medical then you need to tell them if you need it indoors too.

i described o a doctor the other week when indoor, we do whats known as 'furniture surf!' i think i read that on hear somewhere. he must have heard it before as he knew exactly what i meant :)

Hi sillygilly , good luck about your dla , please don't think I'm being cheeky , but you must be more than honest. its human nature to always put on a brave face but that's the wrong thing to do !! You must explain your worst day and let them know every detail of how you cope / get through your days !! We all know there's times when our pain level goes down to maybe a 5 on the pain scale !! Don't mention those very rare times because they will say if you can cope then you don't need dla !!! It calls for honest account of how your life has been completely taken over by fibromyalgia or cfs or both !!!!!

No time are you ever pain free it has changed your life and its very hard to manage even the easy things . It's not nice laying yourself bare BUT you deserve this and when you get DLA you will feel a sence of achievement you thought you would never feel again !!!! Just remember to tell then how hard things are !!!!

Good luck. X
