Some of my cakes

If this has worked you should see a few of my cakes that I make from time to time. Usually it's the old favourites but special times need special cakes. Maybe one of them then!

Wow that is just lovely, what a talent you have. I've tried my hand at cake decorating over the years, some not too bad, but now my hands shake so much, I would just make a complete mess of it......... Do post us some more to see. :-) :-)

That's really lovely , how long did it take you to make from start to finish, use to love cooking, but for some unknown reason the day my late husband passed away which was 10yrs ago, I stopped. Now I can't stand it, weird isn't it....but your cake is really nice, is it sponge type cake ? Can just taste it LOL not the icing tho Lol .gentle hugs to you.....Dee xx

Hi Cookie.

It's strange how we can stop enjoying doing something when we lose our husband. ((Dee)) I do miss cooking some special dishes, it isn't worth it just for me because the kids don't like them.

I made 2 of these that year and this one took much less time than the first one! The cake was my Mum's extremely secret Christmas cider cake with raisins, sultanas, currants, cherries and mixed peel. She made it for one of our wedding cake layers as well and I've made it for a couple of wedding cakes too. I usually make a madeira cake for "celebration" cakes though.

xx
