pacing app

Moderators I hope this is allowed - I’m in no way affiliated with this app, but wanted to share it so people know it’s there.

It helps with tracking and monitoring daily symptoms, fatigue, sleep and heart rate variability and feeds back to you on when you need to be pacing more. I’m only 3 days in and it takes those first 3 days as a bit of a baseline, then after that you can start to track trends and patterns with it.

Hope it’s allowed on here and useful to members (you don’t need to purchase the activity band you can use it for free without)

you might want to add, you have to pay for it?, but thanks for sharing.

You don’t have to pay to use the app - you pay for the tracker but you don’t have to use it to use the basic levels of the app, it can monitor your heart rate through your camera. I did add that to the post above. Thank you.

No your on the main forum board. Just press on the posters icon and then press where it says chat. I think it would make things easier if it says PM instead of chat . That's just my opinion xx

It’s called “Visible”. They are a company based in the UK, created by someone who developed long COVID.

I’ve been using this pacing tool since they started. It has been tremendously helpful. Love it, love the developers, love the customer-focused model. You do not have to pay anything to use it, unless you want to purchase the armband that provides continuous monitoring. I cannot recommend it enough. I have ME, and I don’t know how I got on without Visible. Actually, I do know — it was very challenging. So, check it out. Great app, great device, great community.

How much does Visible cost in the UK?

The cost was £131.88 (£11 per month) for 1 years membership of Visible Plus (the paid version of Visible, which you need in order to be able to use the armband), and £50 for the armband.23 Jul 2023

If you want the armband it’s £10-15 a month plus the initial £50 for the armband, however you can use elements of the app without the armband. It takes your pulse via your phone camera (picks up light waves from your fingertip whilst you press on the screen) which monitors you heart rate variability (linked to fatigue) and then also asks you to check in every night with how the day has been in terms of fatigue, headache, emotional and physical strain etc. it can then build a picture of how your day ahead is looking and warn you if you need to be taking it easy etc. I’m sure there are a lot more features with the monthly fee and armband but even the basic app will allow you to track changes and you can add notes each day to say what you have done etc to monitor your own patterns 😊

AgedCrone profile image

I’m sorry, but spending money to take my pulse on my phone is many steps too far for me…the shock of seeing how my bank balance had deteriorated would push me in to a flare.

I may be unusual…but over the years have worked out how not to overdo things & 30 years down the line I seem to be on the right track.

But if it appeals …..& you think it will help you…..go for it!

I agree.

LauLau212 profile image
LauLau212 in reply toAgedCrone

I may not have made it clear - you do NOT pay to take pulse on phone you can use certain parts of the app (including the heart rate monitor via your camera) for free. You only pay to gain access to more features.

You are jumping to the wrong conclusions and haven't properly taken in the info provided by the original poster LauLau212. Nobody has to pay for the free phone Visible app version. You only pay if you choose to buy a Polar armband together with a monthly subscription.

I have been using the app since H decided to set it up to help people with pacing and to avoid getting crashes. He had Long C ovid and wanted to help people with ME/CFS and Long Cov id. He is constantly improving the app. He set the app up because to date all smart watch algorithms are aimed at sportsmen and women. Nobody else has anything like this specifically aimed at helping to pace with fatiguing illnesses.

I find the FREE app helpful, and I hope LauLau212 finds it as beneficial as I and many other users do. I also applaud people like H for having the guts and determination to create something as well-intentioned and complex as this while suffering themselves.

Thank you for your reply. I am finding it very helpful as a newly diagnosed person. Although I’ve had symptoms for a long time now I have hindsight, it never had a name until this year. I have somewhat ‘deteriorated’ as well and am having a very hard time getting my head around how to ‘pace’ when I’m usually miss independent and was, until 1 year ago a nursing sister. I appreciate people who have had Fibro and fatigue for years may have reached their crescendo and therefore understand how to deal with it better, but I am not there yet. Having a visual aid (a free one at that) is useful to warn me when to take it easy. I just wanted to help others who may be in the same position as me. X

I have used the free version of the app for a while but kept forgetting to check my heart rate and to enter my stats of the day. It doesn’t cost anything to check your heart rate with your phone when using the free version of the app, by the way.

On Sunday I’ve started using the armband with the paid version of the app and it’s already made a massive difference to my days. Lots of pacing notifications when I’d have continued going on.

Personally, I don’t have any regrets yet to have upgraded to the paid version 🤷🏼‍♀️

yes I saw that but when I entered it in to the app search it came up with a totally different app

hi, thanks for sharing the info re visible. I hadn’t heard anything about it. I went through google as you suggested in one of your posts but got to the end and it wouldn’t let me go any further than to click to go onto the checkout 🤷‍♀️I do not want to pay so how do I get the app when it won’t allow me to continue without paying for it? I’d be grateful if you could help me with this, thanks in advance x

LauLau212 profile image
LauLau212 in reply toCotswolds25121

I can’t recall how I did it exactly but search for the app :

Visible: long covid and ME/ CFS

** That’s how it is spelled exactly on the App Store and if you download the app it should give you the option to use it without payment for certain elements xx

I suggest you reach out to the developer. I found this on their website:

"If you have any questions or want to get in touch, we’re here for you!

Please email us at info@makevisible.com"

Whenever I've had any questions, they responded to me within a day or two.
