I'm always on the wrong end of 'over-doing' it. Looking for tips that people use to pace themselves. I am lucky that I don't have to work but run my own crafting business for fun, so if I'm too sore I don't make things, but just any general tips on day-to-day help would be great.

How do you pace yourselves?
Join t he club Lucy, I'm the master of non-pacing and pay the price regularly, today, post carpet cleaning yesterday.....I'm my own worst enemy. My physiotherapists' mantra is pacing, pacing - his eyes go skywards when he says it to me, but I am going to reform myself and try to do it better, once learnt I think it does help things greatly if carried out properly

Hi Lucy I haven't got there yet and not sure I will ever get it right. I feel guilty when I do nothing but then take it to the other extreme and over do it, I've been diagnosed for nine years and still can't get it right. Sorryxx
I was just going to ask the same question. I also feel quilty doing nothing so far today I got up at 5 for a 6.30 work start, worked for 8 hours, came home cooked kids dinner, made some bows for my craft business I'm trying to get of the ground, made kids pack lunch for tomorrow, done bedtime and made what my grandparents call the best shortbread better then marks and spencer now I'm paying for it and there is no rest as I will be up at the crack of dawn getting ready for school run and I don't finish work till 11 tomorrow night. Hopefully someone might be able to help! X
Hi Lucy
I attended a pain management course, not aimed at fibro but it gave some ideas.
It says to start with to do something for 15-20 minutes and that's all, make a note of how you feel after that time and for the rest of the day. Continue that for a few days and add on a few minutes. Keeping a check on how you feel. And so on. It isn't very family or work friendly but it can give you an idea. The problem that I find with fibro is that I can do something one day and then the next I can't do the exact same thing. It is really trial and error, for me anyway.
I hope this can help a little, good luck and take care.

Join the club! I try, I am getting better at it, but then it goes out the window a lot of the time!!
Take care and good luck. Xx
Hiya. There is a very good booklet called "the Pain Toolkit" which you can print off on the website paintoolkit.org which has helped me understand about pacing. Give it a try. Good luck xx
