several of you have said you have the same problems as me regarding stomach.im struggling to cope with it-had to wear a coat all summer because of my huge stomach and now it is more swollen-what am I going to do from now on.DRs must be able to do something instead of just dismissing everything.

Had a similar problem until my previous GP mentioned that many people with FMS also seem to be intolerant of gluten. She advised cutting it down ( not out) and hey presto, it did the trick for me.

Oh that sounds like a good idea for me to try :-)

What's a typical diet like that is low in gluten please ?

I'm not sure I'm certain what gluten is :-(

Gluten is found in a lot of wheat products. Not sure exactly what it is but if you look at food labels, in the allery advice section, it says whether a product contains gluten. Bread, breakfast cereals, baked things are full of it but you can buy gluten free alternatives ( bit expensive though, especially bread. I make my own bread (bread maker) using a gluten free recipe. If you goodle Gluten you'll find loads of useful sites. Plus google gluten free recipes. It's fairly easy once you learn the basics.

my DR actually admitted that he doesn't take any notice of me when I tell him what symptoms I have because bloods are normal.

Hiya - I'm in exactly the same situation as you and it really does get upsetting when people comment on it :-(

I wish I knew the answer - sorry - if you get any advice from your g.p. I would really appreciate you passing it on to me :-) my g.p. is favourite on handing me diet sheets and telling me to exercise more ;-)

Hope you're keeping well

Regards, Tina

Fortunately my old GP realised it wasn't a weight issue ( I was a ballet dancer) and was brilliant at finding ways to help me cope. Wish I still had her.

My wife has had about 6 polyps removed over the last 10 years, all of which were benign.

Hi Anbuma, I don't post very often, but read every day. I have every sympathy with you about your abdominal weight gain, and it must be very frustrating that your Dr.doesn't come up with the reason for it, and in my opinion sounds downright rude. sometimes though, Drs. don't have all the answers themselves. Maybe too, they also don't want to put you through a whole lot of tests & proceedurs that can be unpleasant, and also expensive. Sorry,That sounds like a bit of a lecture, I didn't mean it to be. I noticed in one of your other posts you mentioned that you were taking Impirimine, & nefaminine (spell?) & I googled these two drugs.I found out that both of them had side effects of weight gain. Nefaminine, not only said weight gain, but unusual weight gain. It also gave cough as a side effect. perhaps you could mention this to you Dr? This is just a suggestion, but you could also keep a food diary of everything you eat. You could then show it to your Dr. and he/she will see that you really are trying to do something to help get to the bottom of your weight gain. I honestly feel for you that your Dr. isn't listening to you. I hope you get some answers soon. warm wishes & soft hugs going your way:-)
