Has anyone been prescribed duloxatine (cymbalta) for pain and what time of day do you find is best to take it?

I have just started it and take it around 9.30pm each night.

Hi - have only recently joined but very interested in the pain relief side of things having been toooo scared to take any of it for fear of addiction. I've read about dulexotine being used & wonder what anyones experience is of it before seeing the doc.

I've been taking it for the last 6 months. I need to take it in the morning (before 10am) as I find it keeps me awake otherwise. Like Gins I need no help in staying awake at night. So far it is the only thing to ease the pain I get in my legs. Had initial side effects - no sleep, nausea, bit dizzy, and dry mouth, but these all settled down within a few weeks of taking it.

Been on it for 3 years, after suffering from fibro for 12 yrs. Take 1x20mg a.m.; 1x20mg p.m. Made a MASSIVE difference. Now I can sleep all night w'out pain & have more energy as a result.. Only one snag: I need 3 alarm clocks to wake up in the a.m. but fine once I'm up.

I find it is brilliant I take mine in the morning cause when I tried it at night I was wide awake all night and that is useless, I hope it helps you.

I take 60mg at about 6pm I find that helps. Since going on it though I have started to get palpitations and have been referred for an ECG.

Thanks everyone, it's early days yet, just started it last weds, taking 30mg for two weeks then increasing to 60mg. I've had no problems with sleep so far, I'm on lyrica too so maybe that helps with the sleep.

I'm really hoping this works for me, have tried a few things that didn't...

Hello, I have been on Duloxetine 60mg for about 6 weeks now,I take it in the morning. There were some initial side effects but I have found it to be the best medicine so far! I am also on Lyrical/Pregablin. Good luck with it, hope it helps you as much as it has me!

Thanks for your reply. Do you mind saying what side effects you had?

Sorry for delay in replying, have just started using this so need to get the hang of it!! I had a bit of nausea when I started with it but I persisted with it and it has eased now. I also had trouble sleeping but that could be because at the same time I was put on Duloxetine I was taken off amitriptyline. The benefits for me though have definitely outweighed the side effects. Hope you don't suffer any!

I had trouble getting to sleep when I first started it but that seems to have settled now, just started on the 60mg. Thought it was helping the pain at first, but these last few days having bad muscle spasms, but it's early days only on them just over two weeks and was on the low dose first.
