Everyone else is in short sleeves...

... while I'm already feeling chilly. Yes it was warm in the middle of the day but most of the time at home I feel chilled. I've got thick cardigan on and extra layers and hot water bottle for the last ten days or so. I feel so damp and clammy. Like my thermostat is too sensitive.

Hiya

I'm completely certain my thermostat has never worked.

For the last week or so, by 9pm I'm wearing my blue bed socks which are really warm.

Sometimes it's a good thing not having a partner. They're not very sexy :)

Thanks for that, Coz. You made me chuckle :-)

I've long given up on sexy, lol. I go for cozy every time, haha!

Me too, I'm sure my thermostat is completely up the creek. I have already lit my woodburner, which I normally get away without until at least later in September and often not until October. My woodburner is the only form of heating I have so its very important to me.

Bed socks are looming large on the horizon !

Thanks for that, Foggy! I was actually very warm today, probably because I've gone from summer to autumn in my clothing. I wasn't taking any chances! This evening, the hot water bottle and thick cardie are doing their job once again!

I often sit in the lounge in a fleece, bed socks and a cosy blanket, wanting the gas fire on, while my partner has to wear shorts and a t-shirt because she's boiling. Either that or we'll be walking in freezing winter temperatures with her wrapped up in layer upon layer and me dripping with sweat with my coat undone! I swear my body's having a laugh at my expense ;) xx

That must be very confusing, Pip! I'm usually cold and even colder in winter, so have to leave extra blankets and layers for that time. Though in the in-between weather I wear too much and then drip with sweat which becomes cold and clammy, aaarrrgh! I have to counteract that by stuffing wadges of loo roll underneath vest back and front to absorb the wet! ;-)

I have a towel permanently kept in the lounge so I can wipe myself down when I get the sweats. Even chatting on the phone can do it. I also get the cold, clammy thing (horrid) and really get the chills when my wet hair gets cold and sits on my neck. I put the towel around my neck to cope with that. Have to say I have wiped the sweat from my lower back with toilet roll whilst 'spending a penny' ;)

I live in a big stone building in Scotland and the lounge is north facing so stays cold in summer and is freezing in winter. Our fuel bill cost a fortune last winter, but as its cheaper than moving at the moment, we'll just have to pay. I can't sit here all day and be freezing.

Ooh, that's a bit moany and groany for me ;) To lighten the mood, sometimes if I have the towel around my neck whilst walking to the car, I think I look like I've been to the gym for a massive workout. Apart from my size, who'd doubt it ;) xx

Oh I definitely get the hair thing too. It's a nightmare when I wash my hair. It's very thick and quite long and never feels dry until the next day, so consequently I don't wash it very often! It feels dry on the outside but as you say, damp at the neckline. I usually put a small fleece blanket between my hair and my neck when I go to bed, plus lie on hot water bottle! In the colder weather I add a woolly hat!

Last winter was bitter and I live in the supposedly warm south west of England! We're due for a mild one this year. Please?!!!!!

Had to chuckle about the workout, Pip. You need a sense of humour in this game ;-) xx

It's the flooding down there that'd worry me ;) Hope you've got a rowing boat :) Could have done with skis, snow boots, and car chains up here the last few winters ;) xx

Haha, yes! Terrible floods last year. We were OK here but where my mum lives (she lives in a village) there were terrible floods when the river burst its banks! ;-) xx

Hi Kirby

DITTO!

I don't think my thermastat has ever worked either and it drives me insane. I'm currently preparing to Hibernate for 5 months because I rarely get outside during that time. Does yours get worse when coming in and out of places and the temperature difference causes extreme pain all over like you have a nasty flu?, by any chance?

If yes, is the only way to get over it is to put loads of clothes on and get into bed with hot water bottle, take pain meds and go to sleep?

I've battled with it for 20years and have only just had it recognised by a health professional, LOL gotta laugh sometimes haven't you :) yet, on the other side its so frustrating and depressing missing out on BBQ's and parties etc because of it too and its that that I find hard :( because I can go months without seeing some of my good friends :(

I like to picture myself submerged in fluffiness, like feathers and feel its warmth and ssoothing softness, whch is why I always send fluffy cuddles they can be what ever colour you like :)

Hi Zeb! I'm definitely affected by sudden changes of temperature eg going from warm room to cold one or going from warm inside to cold outside. The temperature changes cause me to shiver usually long after I should, I am lucky in that not too much generalized pain, but pain that moves around! Today I have needed to sleep twice :-( Not had to do that for ages. I got up about 11 am, then back in bed by 1.30 pm then again at 5 pm ish. Then today it's raining. I swear my barometer works too well!! I reckon it felt the rain coming before everyone else (except fellow fibro sufferers of course!) No barbies or outdoor things for me either, even a drop in the temp in a summer evening affects me. I am less inclined to suffer and put up with it as I did when I was younger. Fluffy cuddles and feathers being sent your way!

Kirby xxx :-)
