Have not had a great day today with a migraine sending me bedward this afternoon. I came to to hear a huge cacophony coming through my open bedroom window. On inspection, as you can see from the picture, (albeit sideways) all the house martins who have nested and bred here over the course of the summer are getting ready for their long flight south. Nature never ceases to amaze me, how they know when to come, where to come to and reuse nests, and then the point at which they know they have to depart again ....... all signals that the year is galloping on even more quickly than I can possibly get my head round. Note to self......... Put house right side up then order logs and coal tomorrow !!!!

I hope that by the time you read this (in the morning?) Foggy, the migraine will have passed and all you'll have to cope with is that 'spaced out' feeling you get the day after. At least, I do.
We have swifts rather than house martins around here; I absolutely love it when they come screaming around the houses, they seem so full of the joy of life. I think most of them are heading South now, it's been quiet for a few days. Lovely (if squiffy :-)) picture.
